I was scheduled to speak last week at Dartmouth College by invitation of the chapter College Republicans and Turning Point USA. The Thursday “Extremism in America” event was meant to highlight America’s long history with far-left violent extremism, a subject politicians and media oft ignore and deny.
Gabriel Nadales, a former member of California militant leftist groups, was the co-speaker. But we never got to step on stage to a live audience.
Soon after the event was announced, Antifa and its army of online trolls threatened violence to shut it down. In turn, Dartmouth administrators gave the extremists exactly what they wanted: The Hanover, NH, college canceled the in-person event at the last minute, citing vague “safety issues.”
To be sure, the threats against myself, Nadales and prospective attendees were concerning. Local law enforcement had to clear Moore Hall with a bomb squad and dogs before I arrived.
...
In Portland, an Antifa member I’ve reported on named Jonathan Dylan Chase offered to pay anyone who gets arrested for assaulting me.
...
Hanover police, nearby-Lebanon police and the Grafton County Sheriff’s Office met the threats with a robust and commendable response. Dozens of officers secured the lecture hall where we were scheduled to speak. They secured every entrance and exit at the building, Moore Hall.
The message was clear: Law enforcement will ensure First Amendment activities are protected in Hanover, NH. Dartmouth’s administrators, however, felt otherwise.
...
The lack of condemnation from the New Hampshire chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and other so-called civil-rights groups signals that those actions are permissible. By giving in, Dartmouth just handed Antifa a blueprint on shutting down future events. And sure enough, the same Antifa accounts that made the threats took a victory lap.

Another chickensh*t Ivy bends over for the lefties.
Not surprised.
Profile in courage. Snort.
Poison Ivy League
I’m kinda surprised.
Dartmouth ( or, “the farm” as we called it at MIT) is pretty rural and remote or it was went I went there.
I wouldn’t think ANTIFA could mount sufficient people.
That said, BLM did burn down the Chabaf and other Jewish buildings there. So maybe they do have enough brown shirts.
Organized crime only wishes it had the racket the Government indoctrination Camps have. We enjoy having somebody take care of our kids during the day only to find find out the hard way they are teaching them to hate you.
For clarity, I visited there. Went to school in Cambridge
Yeah, but them white suprema-cysts......
Ivy leaguers must be a bunch of real ***sies if they can’t even take an opposing point of view.
Too many woke admins.. maybe Hussein’s people called ?
Over the phone, senior assistant dean for student life Anna Hall said the decision was made by “several” people but refused to say who when asked .
Not surprised by Dartmouth’s response.
However kudos to NH LE.
BLM burned down stuff on campus?
Why has this not been in the news?
Dartmouth did indeed seem pretty small when I visited, c.’94. Nice and compact for such a big-name college.
It starts with education.
Dartmouth sides with leftists proving that Dartmouth leaders are hippies stuck in the 1960’s. Duh. I enjoy listening to Conan O’Brien’s speech at Dartmouth. “Just think. I’m in the state next to the state with Ben and Jerry’s!”
New Hampshire ain’t what it used to be. When my late friend William Bill Loeb was editor of the Manchester Union Leader (for I wrote an occasional article / letter to the editor), he would have excoriated any college who gave into any communist/anarchist organization and would rally patriots to defend free speech with gusto.
Today, cowardly jellyfish white liberals run the show and surrender to the Left at first fart.
Antifa can burn in hell for all I care.
Only one kind of diversity is allowed in the Ivy League now - and that’s skin color.
To enter the Ivy League you have to prove you already think exactly as today’s faculty are going to tell you to think. Anything else will get you emotionally pelted and ultimately expelled if you differ from the official line and stepping outside their “community standards.”
Parents actually spend or borrow good money to send their kids to these schools that used to have good reputations because the parents are suffering from nostalgia and wishful thinking that things at these college “can’t be that bad.”
A free thinker at Dartmouth today is the only “Vox clamantis in deserto.”
Dartmouth is the Washington State of the Ivy League.
