On the Brink of War With Russia, Ukrainians Are Resigned and Prepared

Computer whiz Danylo Kovzhun has taught his children to handle a pistol. Confectioner Roman Nabozhniak is training colleagues to run his business so he can focus on fighting Russians. Bar owner Vitaliy Kyrychenko keeps his gas tank full in case he needs to get out fast.

Ukraine has struggled to maintain a sense of stability since it became an independent country in 1991, and has been at war since 2014. But with 100,000 Russian troops gathered nearby, threatening Europe’s biggest land war since the 1940s, people there say something feels different this time.

“It became kind of normal to say, ‘What, again?’ ” said Mr. Kovzhun, 46 years old. “On the other hand, I tend to be panicky. I think it’s going to be a nightmare, like Syria. That’s the only thing Russians can do.”

It took the Russians about 6 weeks to pacify Grozny Chechnya when it had a population of 400,000 and just a few thousand fighters.

Kiev has a population of 3 million. I think the Russians are walking into a hornets nest.

Kill the Russian Invaders!

Newsweek, 1/21/22: Fewer Than 1 in 6 Americans Want U.S. Soldiers in Any Ukraine-Russia War: Poll

In this poll, more Americans favored doing nothing versus even arming Ukranians.

“Fewer than one in six Americans want U.S. soldiers deployed to defend Ukraine if Russia invades the country, according to a new poll published on Friday, as high level talks got underway in Geneva.

The COSA/Trafalgar Group poll was conducted from January 12 to 14 among 1,081 likely general election voters and has a margin of error of +/-2.98 percent.

The Trafalgar Group enjoys an A- rating from poll tracker FiveThirtyEight. ...”

This is all misdirection from the corrupt intellegence community.

When nothing happens it will be: “Biden makes Putin back off!”

Kill the Russian Invaders!

There won't be any opportunity, if you ask me. Putin will either get what he wants without war, or he'll be challenged and back down. Given current sensibilities, I predict the former.

“Kill the Russian Invaders!”

Agreed. If the rapists of the Red Army invade Ukraine then I hope a whole damned bunch of them bleed and die for their efforts.

Can’t wait to see what Javelin missiles do to Russian armor!

Globalists want white Christians to fight each other which reduces the population of whites even more.

Could very well be.

Ukraine has one of the world largest armies.
Right now, they are negotiating an alliance between Ukraine, Poland and GB.
(US not included, who can trust Bandon?!)
I would say the Baltic countries are also on it.
That should give Putin something to think about!

Right. If they were planning on gobbling up all of the Ukraine, they waited too long because the thaw will be there in a couple of months, and it will be harder for them to move. But there is enough time for them to seize the parts of Ukraine with the largest ethnic Russian population, and then essentially dare Kiev to kick them out.

Have at it boys.

I told my nephew to GTFO of the woke military last year. Who wants to die for the confused vegetable Biden and his masters’ leftist, neocon schemes and politics?

His enlistment is ended and he’s a bright kid, very responsible, so he’s already got job offers starting at $85K

2 good paragraphs:

“Russia may be able to wage war with airstrikes and tanks, but it wouldn’t be able to hold the whole of Ukraine, he said. Ukrainians had a generally positive attitude toward Russia until 2014, when Moscow seized Crimea and sent fighters and weapons to foment a separatist uprising in the east.

That turned many against Ukraine’s historic imperial ruler and fueled an outpouring of national pride. Ukrainians tore down most of the country’s Lenin statues. People switched to speaking Ukrainian rather than Russian. One-third of respondents in a survey at the end of last year said they would take up arms if the Russians invaded.”

I don’t want Americans fighting in Ukraine either. I want to arm Ukrainians to defeat the invading devils.

“The Trafalgar Group enjoys an A- rating from poll tracker FiveThirtyEight”

This is actually true. 538 used to give them a poor rating, but went to A-. Cheers to Trafalgar Group.

Yeah, every person I’ve talked to about this in the last week (conservatives all) have said we should not be involved in any way whatsoever.

I agree, we have our own problems to deal with and UKR isn’t one of them.

I hope you are right. I thought this a few weeks ago. But I’m leaning towards the view he invades. The Russian economy is weak (real disposable incomes lower than 2014!). Putin may feel a military adventure will boost his popularity.

“I don’t think they want Kiev. They want most of the eastern Ukraine.”

Then what’s the point of putting some 10,000 20th Guards Army forces in and around Stolin, Belarus? They’re not there to invade eastern Ukraine, they’re obviously there to perform an encircling maneuver around Kyiv.
