The State Department on Sunday told staff at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine that their families must go home, and the department warned travelers to avoid the country "due to the increased threats of Russian military action."
President Joe Biden is also considering sending U.S. troops, warships and aircraft to the Baltics and Eastern Europe, but no decision has been made yet, the New York Times reported on Sunday evening.
The State Department's order came hours after Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated that the U.S. and NATO will forcefully support Ukraine should Russian troops invade.

"If a single additional Russian force goes into Ukraine in an aggressive way, as I said, that would trigger a swift, a severe and a united response from us and from Europe," Blinken said Sunday morning during a CNN interview.
While Blinken reemphasized that the U.S. is interested in a diplomatic solution to the conflict, he stressed "the choice is Vladimir Putin’s" as to whether war in Ukraine is inevitable.
On Friday, Blinken met with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, for the latest bilateral talks to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

We have ships whose crews are not down with covid?
I’m hearing wannabe tough guys in the Biden Administration use weaselly words to act like they mean business. I don’t think they mean business. I expect them to fold.
It doesn’t matter if the world goes up in flames, as long as Trump isn’t President and the women on the View are happy..
Send in Hunter to the rescue.
I understand most of the Embassy employees are Ukrainians, not Americans. American staff may be only half of total complement. This is true in most embassies. I am no authority, but was told that by one who is a retired diplomat.
This is what happens when Russia has all the dirt on Dementia Joe and the kickbacks to Congress.
Can anybody give me a reason why Russia wouldn’t invade Ukraine at this point in time? I can’t think of any, sadly.
It’ll just be a minor incursion.
That is true as I understand it. And it is the reason that those embassies are a joke over there as they are as bugged like a mafia meeting place in NYC.
Another MSN crap news.....Nothings changed since Biden spoke last. MSN warmongering again with it’s fear porn.
You will soon see why Putin should not have invaded Ukraine.
Putin miscalculating, like most tin pot dictators.
Putin has to invade now, as he has set himself up as a weakling, if he doesn’t.
Please tell the class now exactly Ukraine takes on the Russians. If the Russians choose too they could hope Ukraine off the map in a matter of days with a full military invasion of the ROE are such that collateral damage is not a factor. They might even use tactical nukes if they feel froggy just to prove they can and will use them. Our admin will do exactly zero about it other than whine to the UN.
So, Joe’s going to drag the US into another never-ending war ?
“Please tell the class now exactly Ukraine takes on the Russians.”
Ukraine is there for the taking. They can take it or they can leave. But, derelict Putin put himself into the Lose-Lose scenario.
Invade: Win, but Russian tankers will go home in body bags from Javelins. Also, helo troop carriers go down to Stingers. **Russia will be hit with next level economic sanctions - (You will see soon)
Back Down: You just backed down to the softest and weakest US President in history.
