Pennsylvania School Board Member to Parents: ‘I Don’t Work for You’
Breitbart ^ | 23 Jan 2022 | DR. SUSAN BERRY

Posted on 01/23/2022 6:08:55 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

A Pennsylvania school board member, ostensibly disgruntled because parents are showing up at board meetings to voice concerns about education issues, penned an op-ed Sunday in which he responded, “I don’t work for you.”

Richard Robinson, a member of the York Suburban School Board, appears to long for the days when “nobody showed up” to school board meetings.

The “public comments” period of these meetings, he noted at the York Dispatch, once gave residents “the chance to vent their spleens about exorbitant taxes or demand subjects be taught properly the way they were during the most frigid period of the Cold War.”

These days, however, Robinson complained, “school boards are now the new battleground in the fight for America’s future”:

Some members of my community appear to interpret this part of board meetings as the occasion to tell board members why they have the collective intelligence of a village idiot and how the school district ought to be addressing real problems. When the board does not fall in line with each and every demand, we are accused of ignoring the thoughtful, unbiased, sincere and righteous ultimatums of our community.

Robinson said he preferred to write not as a “member of a school board,” but, instead, as a “member of my community who serves on a school board.” He responded to the concept that he works for the taxpayers of his community with the statement:

No, I don’t work for you. I was elected by people who voted to represent you. It is not the same thing. You may also be surprised to learn every member of a school board is a taxpayer, too. I come from a long line of taxpaying men and women.

So “represent” and “work” are two different things? What an idiot. Needs to be recalled.

His tenure as a future school board member will be very short.

The only way to prove that he does is to FIRE him. They should target this guy above ALL others. Make him an object lesson in the next school board election. Call Donald Trump for money and get this one wiped out of that seat.

He said the quiet part out loud. Some remarks, once uttered, cannot be taken back with any sincerity.
If he stays in his post, that means the others agree with him.

Is there a method in that state to recall him?

So who does he think he works for? He has to court them to get elected and taxes they pay form his salary. I believe HE is the village idiot.

Recall?

I think voters may start showing up to public meetings and make it REALLY clear how unhappy they are. Like, as clear as the French Revolution.

Voting doesn’t do it.
Marching with signs doesn’t do it.
Entering public buildings and expressing open disrespect for government leaders doesn’t do it.

What’s the next step up?

The idea in this linked thread could work against the mayor. It talks about suing school board members through their insurance bonds. All elected and appointed officials must have a bond. If they are found to have acted illegally through malfeasance or misfeance, the insurance will pay, then drop the bad politician. No other company will insure them leaving them unemployable in that position.

This link is the man who inspired the mom. There is a link to his speech below. That school board dropped the mandate at that meeting.

“The only way to prove that he does is to FIRE him.”

I doubt that will happen. But let’s see.

This does raise the question — then why have School Board meetings if the Board does not have to answer questions raised by the parents?

As the left becomes more confident they will continue to overreach.

Voting doesn’t do it.

How could you possibly know that? Very, very few people vote in school board elections.

I have a great idea. Instead of teaching our youth they are oppressed or oppressive, why not teach them real things like math, science, history, reading and writing. In addition, leave politics out of it and let kids develop their own opinions and be free to express them with retribution.

Make sure the board member is voted out /recalled and remind them then that they don’t work at all.
