In watching school boards over the years, it has become obvious that most who get on the boards do it to benefit their own children, and they could care less about the community.

Can’t say I agree. I’ve met a number of parents who are absolutely oblivious to what is actually going on in our schools. I’d make a better board member, although I’ve never had kids.

This scumbag is up for re-election in 2023. He will be gone then unless he is forced out before then.
He put his entire foot in his mouth, including part of his leg. It will be very difficult for him to get it out.

It's time to tell the raw truth -- no matter how ugly. Democrats hate us: Republicans, conservatives, capitalists, and, most intensely, the unvaccinated. Democrats want no dissent. No freedom of speech. They want to destroy our lives. It's all out in the open now. They want to imprison us, censor us, ban us and take our jobs and businesses away. -------- Wayne Allyn Root B I N G O Wayne Allyn Root is right on this - it's a battle between good and evil. And yeah, they want to brain-wash and steal our children in the process.

true ... and most people are clueless about the intended purpose of school boards in our overall system ... and don’t care ... which makes it more difficult to criticize the elected officials ...

Schools exist to provide products to their customers.
Parents are NOT their customers. The State is.
Always have been.

Wasn’t a law passed recently that people who show up at school board meetings to complain can be arrested as terrorists or some such nonsense, no wonder this jerk feels empowered.

That sounds like a resignation letter! It should be accepted and the vacancy filled.
Could be wrong, but a lot of school board slots are unpaid. The job is largely thankless. Right now there are a lot of threats of parents who are furious about masks going to replace the school board members, but they are often single issue people who have no intention of actually sitting through four years of meetings and all of the thankless work that goes along with it.
Some school districts, probably nearly all school districts across America to be fair, have existed on autopilot for decades with only sporadic community involvement. Community members have similarly been on autopilot, expecting that the school's operations are someone else's business. I hope from all of this that the dynamic changes for the better.

“...vent their spleens about exorbitant taxes or demand subjects be taught properly the way they were during the most frigid period of the Cold War.”
As someone who attended school ‘during the most frigid period of the Cold War’ and who has taught in public schools for over 30 years I think I’m qualified to state that kids in the 50s received a much better education than kids receive today.
Today in many public school districts, the chief goal of schools is ‘to keep the kids off of the streets’ and provide them with at least two meals a day.

In reality, he is right. Neither do Police Officers. Or as they are called Law Enforcement Officers. And they are not Public Servants. They are Public Masters. I know the Bullshit line is, "We work for you." You being the public. They lied. The Public has been bullshit one more time. But the Public enjoys being bullshitted. When I worked for the County Road Department, I lost count of the people who would come up to me, puff out their chests and say, "I am a taxpayer. I pay your salary."
At one time long, long ago, that might have been the case. [School Board members and other "Public Servants" working for the Public] but that ship has long since sailed. Now they have little fiefdoms of their own, tied to a larger fiefdom at the County Seat. Which is affiliated with a Cabal at the State Capitol. And the State Capitols are connected to the Empire in Washington, D.C.
