I don’t know if it’s theater. Did we evac our people when the Russians swept into Crimea and entered Donbas? We had few State Dept, DoD, or other personnel and dependents in those areas. Most of our people are in Kiyv or Kharkiv. Is there intel supporting a belief that Americans there are in physical danger? I don’t think this is for show. Putin isn’t going to keep this army group out in the snow till Spring. He’ll either withdraw it or use it. I think he’ll use it. And maybe after Blinken meeting with the Russians State thinks so too.
Listen to the Russian statements. It doesn’t want Eastern Ukraine, but for Ukraine to federalize and give the East voting rights revoked by Kiev coup in 2014. Donbas voted to join Russia 8 years ago, Russia refused to accept it. If it wanted to it could have it along with Crimea years ago. Everything you hear in media about this conflict is a lie.
They don’t have much except agriculture now. Banana republics are routinely starving despite huge agricultural exports. That’s because the food is mostly exported.
I wonder how Americans would feel if Russia brought Messy-co into their alliance and placed troops / military equipment across our Southern border?

Independence makes perfect sense after years of Ukrainian procrastination. A region of millions of people cannot exist for years in legal limbo.
If they don’t leave, the United States will gladly just leave them behind to deal with whatever on their own . . . like those Americans that are still in Afghanistan (assuming they are still alive).

Take it with a grain of salt. Perhaps the instruction out of Moscow to its bots is to downplay an invasion because the invasion is imminent.
Did you serve in the US military? You have admitted to being a wetback who is against border control on the southern border and yet is concerned about the Russian threat to Ukraine which has been talked up for years but no invasion has taken place. What are you up to, puny?

I think the buildup is in case Kiev tries to seize Donbass or Crimea as they have threatened. That’s it...
They are also getting angry that we are on a rocketsled to basing missiles there.
If we do, they’ll probably put missiles back in Cuba and load up Kaliningrad with intermediate range missiles.
That’s my prediction.

The buildup is in Yelnya, which is closer to Moscow than to Ukraine. The stories of invasion is gaslighting of ginormous proportions.

Exactly, set up an invasion scare, and when it doesn’t happen pretend he stared Russia down. Trying to be JFK, except this clown will end up with missiles in Cuba again.
