Have to change the subject from COVID tyranny so this drama over Russia and China.

The 5C system in our own Western circle of nations disgusts me more than Russia and China’s less than free societies.

5C is “Cultural Communism Corrupt Crony Capitalism”

We need to get our own house and those of our allied nations in order.

No coercion to vaccinate, no vaccine passports, no more restrictive COVID measures.

That is more important to me than Russia or China period.

I forgot, Japan as well.

I was about to point that out, but we both know that they can make their own in a short time.

Listening to our State Dept one would think Russia is making unreasonable demands but as I see it ... Russia wants what NATO and the U.S. and others promised when it let Germany reunite... and that the Minsk agreement be implemented. Which also was supported by Nato,France, Germany , Us and others. Thus far Kiev is not keeping within that framework and has been stalling for months and months.

As for Romania....I believe Romania has US missiles there and Putin wants them out.

The entire world does even if they don’t admit it.
Hell, even Biden misses Trump.

“And all of the Putin jock sniffers will have no problem with this request.”

I don’t get this attack against Freepers. And all war with Russia will go nuclear, costing millions of lives and destruction of the world economy.

NATO presence in those countries is just to project power in the Black Sea. Putin does not want those countries, he wants as much control of the Black Sea as possible.

Is a million lives worth the projection of power in the Black Sea?

I don’t understand it either. There are no US inteests at stake in the Black Sea. Let Central Europe form its own coalition against Russia or not with our blessing or not.

NATO is obsolete ! Other security alliances need to be formed that reflect the new realities. Let there be 2 or 3 Eorpean alliances. In one or 2 we don’t need to be directly involved! We can have “observer - interested party” status like the Swedes did for years in NATO. Our “European Sea” is the Atlantic we need to concentrate on that!

The US abandoning its allies would be the starting gun for nuclear proliferation. That is one of the key reasons America offers security guarantees to other nations. If they can’t benefit from an American nuclear umbrella, they will get their own.

Ukraine’s foolish decision to surrender its nukes in return for worthless ‘security guarantees’ from the west have already damaged the cause of non-proliferation.

Its really not in America or the rest of the world’s interest to see scores of other countries scrambling to acquire nuclear weapons because if that happens, a nuclear war is only a matter of time because it multiplies the risk of miscalculations happening in countries that may not neccessarily be politically and socially stable.

RAF Flyingdales in Yorkshire provides the ballistic early warning facility for any Russian nuclear attack coming over the Atlantic.

American national security would really suffer if it pulled out of Europe and told, certainly the UK, that they were on their own.

Agree ! It was a foolish decision for Ukraine to trust pernicious Abion and son-of-perfidious Albion on that. Thanks to our electoral leadership decisions we are dealing from a position of weakness on the international front. The best we can hope for is not too many pawns be sacrificed.

The betrayal of Japan since May 2019 after the Trump-Kim talks broke off amd collapsed in Stockholm and the incessant launch and upgrading of short and intermediate range ballistic missile velocity and azimuth to defeat US/Japan THAAD anti-missile radar systems and countenanced and accepted and this all happened by KJU under President Trump. It cannot be argued… Under Biden it’s continuing as well… There is no distinction between the current administration and the previous administration with respect to appeasement of North Korea and how this has endangered us in Japan. This is commonly excepted here in Japan and one reads of it in Japanese government reports, and in the press from the far right Conservative press all the way to the left, they know the Trump Administration had done nothing to secure Japan through shameless appeasement of Kim Jong and all for showy publicity and thirst for a Nobel peace prize, when the Communists reneged on just about everything they signed in Singapore and continued all of their offensive programs (nuke warheads, plutonium at Yongbyon, scuds, KN-23, KN-24, Iskander, SLBMs, behind the scenes, as they always cheat.)

Ukraine is a corrupt third world country of little to no significance to the U.S. The thought of risking nuclear war over this insignificant backwater is insanity.

Ukraine is where Nazi Germany entered Russia....they won’t forget that.

Yes, having experienced devastatingly costly invasions Russia views secure borders as an existential matter. They WILL fight to protect their security.

I suspect we would feel the same way about Mexico if we had been invaded through our southern border.

The problem for Biden now is that China is watching the Ukraine closely as it relates to their own territorial ambitions. We can’t go to war over Ukraine but not resisting the Russians may be perceived by China as an invitation to take Taiwan. The Biden administration has a mess on its hands. Its a bit of a no win situation.

We will be living in ‘interesting times’ this year.

“Ukraine is where Nazi Germany entered Russia....they won’t forget that.”

Only Army Group South entered through Ukraine. Army Group Center went through Belarus and Army Group North went through the Baltic states towards Leningrad.
