Netflix loses nearly $45 billion in market cap after ‘borderline catastrophic’ forecast' showed almost 3.5M FEWER subscribers for 2022 first quarter

Netflix dashed hopes for a quick rebound after forecasting weak first-quarter subscriber growth on Thursday, sending shares sinking nearly 20 percent and wiping away most of its remaining pandemic-fueled gains from 2020, just a week after raising prices by up to $2 a month.

The streaming platform projected it would add 2.5 million customers for the first quarter of 2022 - January through March - less than half of the 5.9 million analysts had initially forecast.

Netflix tempered its growth expectations, citing the late arrival of anticipated content, such as the second season of Bridgerton, and the film The Adam Project.

Speaking of churn...

Churn of the century: why unsubscribing has never been so popular Inflation and vast choice make hanging onto subscribers the media’s next big battle

Notice they don't mention woke, crap content.

So allow me to amend: Good content is king.

So, will they learn from their lesson and change their ways? Or will they continue to push their agenda at the literal expense of their profits?

Hint Netflix - the country is increasingly sick of the woke BS. Your bottom line isn't going to get any better on the current path. Then again, maybe they've shed all the subscribers they're going to shed over their woke leftist BS. Maybe things won't get much worse, but they certainly aren't going to get much better either. Welcome to also-ran mediocrity. ... Hmm, since that pretty much defines success for leftists maybe they'll go with that.

Cheering here for their demise. I look forward to dancing on the grave of Netflix.

Yes. Netflix’s fortunes will decline to the point that it will be sold for parts.

With more and more streaming companies I've seen more friends switch to month by month usage. They'll sign up for Netflix and binge on its shows for a month, then Hulu next month and Disney the following.

I expect the streaming companies to fight back by having big differences between monthly and yearly prices (like $20 for a month but only $60 for a whole year) and shortening how long their programs are on, so you can't sign up and watch years of a single series but rather you can only watch the last few weeks of them and must remain a subscriber.

Yep. Disney, HBO, Paramount, Discovery, etc all have taken most of their content away from Netflix. Netflix days are kinda numbered.

I’ll get back on Netflix when they put up another year of The Crown. It’s super easy to subscribe and unsubscribe.

“I hope Netflix stays afloat at least until I finish Ozark, season 3, (very creepy) Archive 81, and Stay Close.”

And this is exactly why these communists are still in business... And why we are losing this Republic. Folks just cannot live without Charmin, Gray Poupon, and Ozark, season 3.

"Cowboy Bebop really, REALLY sucked."

Yes it did and does. I only watched one episode but I have to say that Daniella Pineda is not hard to look at.

A lot of content makers are creating their own streaming services - e.g. Disney.

And I’m not planning to subscribe to any of them.

I’m not opposed to paying for content, and I’m not opposed to paying a subscription fee to a streaming service, but I’m not going to pay multiple subscription fees to multiple streaming services, just because there’s a single show I might be interested in in each of them.

That was one of the problems. True fans complained her character should have had MORE to look at.🤣

I really tried to like it but only got to episode six, with her bedding another woman. I was done for good. And the sub-story about the doll for the guy’s daughter was ridiculously stupid.

If I reject my free Netflix subscription to T Mobile (as part of their plan), and promise to read National Review, will the nation be saved from both political parties?

I’m not paying for Hillary or Obama shows and the rest is overpriced given the competition.

With Rice and the Obamas piloting the ship, I can only hope that Netflix implodes and goes to Hades.

If enough stand on principle and accept minor inconveniences... YES! Absolutely!

Starve the beast one target at a time! The examples of successfully taking down high profile “too big to fail” entities made will indeed make the others think twice.

Yeah, I would know about the plot twists because I only watched the first episode. However bad the series is the fact remains a fine looking woman is a fine looking woman.

We have to keep in mind they do have “demand meters” to monitor how many watch or do not watch. So paid for or not, demand still counts for a LOT.
