Long-term memory isn’t as effected in age related dementia. You can remember the name of the girl you took to the prom, but not what you just walked into the kitchen to get.
My mother (rip) had no problem remembering her birthday at 89, when she was much worse than Biden. She didn’t know she had grandkids by then, yet had babysat them countless times.
She could remember her school classmates too.
That wasn't the case with my dad. When he first began his decline that was one of the first questions that doc asked him, and he was stymied by it.

All cases are different. My father when he was 85, could remember minute details about his younger days... that came in handy because I was asking him questions about his family as part of my genealogical research. He even remembered the names of landlords his family had rented from. What he had for dinner last night? Not so much....

Reminds me of my Alzheimer’s affected late mother a couple of years before she became non-functional and passed on. She would want to make a point about something very important to her and it was a horrible struggle for her to do and for me to try to follow her. I did so out of love of course but realized that when she was finished she would not know what she had said.
I also see the dilated pupils. Mom had this. Don’t know what causes it. In plug’s case, drugs most probably.
Terrible to watch and horrible for the nation to endure.
