The Senate was intended to be the representatives of the sovereign States, not representatives of the people. Naturally idiot colbert is oblivious.
Letterman used to follow the Carson model by making jokes across the political spectrum. As he aged and started to chase people off his lawn the inner leftist came out.
Can’t get rid of the filibuster how are you going to muster the 3/4 of the states to ratify a constitutional amendment that keeps 1/4 of the country from dominating the other 3/4.
And there you go. Colbert wants pure majoritarianism, unfettered by the Constitution. Because with no judiciary, you have no legal institution to protect individual rights.

For some reason liberals are enthralled by late night talk show entertainers. I am old. I liked Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. I ddin’t care what they had to say about politics (they didn’t talk politics anyway). I can’t conceive of running out and announcing “Johnny Carson said xxxxx about the Senate!”.
Turn the new “domestic terrorism” squads loose on him! This is clearly and obviously domestic terrorism.
