Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Tuesday defended his opposition to changing the 60-vote legislative filibuster and told progressives threatening to primary him over the fight to “bring it on.”

“I’ve been primaried my entire life. That would not be anything new for me. ... Bring it on,” Manchin told reporters, asked about some of his colleagues not ruling out supporting a primary opponent.

Manchin’s comments come as Senate Democrats are headed to defeat on their push to change the Senate filibuster in order to pass election-related legislation.

We’re lucky Manchin and Sinema are on our side. We thought they were unbreakable, with Chuck Schumer leading them.

Their terms don’t end until the 2024 election. By then, Biden’s troubles will be forgotten, and the GOP will control both the House and the Senate, so there will be no point to opposing either one in a primary.

“We’re lucky Manchin and Sinema are on our side.”

I can only imagine the heat those two must be under on a daily basis. They’re the pariahs of the Rats.

It’s quite stunning particularly Manchin.

I think he’ll change parties soon?

The more they’re leaned on, the more pissed off they’re likely getting. To the point, where they’ve become just pure hard-headed about it. Good for us though.

The first thing I remember hearing about Manchin was a statement he made during a mine disaster many years ago.

He was commenting on something about ‘grief counselors’ for the relatives of the men trapped; and he said something like, ‘In West Virginia, we don’t have grief counselors, we have Clergy.’

I became a fan right then, and I’ve been very glad for him over the past year.

He hasn’t come this far without knowing his State very well.

If they end the filibuster then in we can screw then after the next election. They ge 8 months then we get 2-4 years. Dumb decision.

Well, they want to end the filibuster so that they won’t ever lose another election (at least in the official results).

...change the Senate filibuster in order to pass election-related legislation...

What a nice way of saying make America into a dictatorship by forever stealing its elections.

A good article for the Bee would be the Democrats declaring they need only 45 votes to overcome a filibuster and 40 votes to win on an issue.

Word is Manchin wants to be WV Governor again. Even if he doesn’t....the Left is going to primary him?....in a state in which every single last county voted for Trump over Biden?

WV is not San Francisco.

Well, they are “on our side” on this issue, so yes.

It was a stupid strategy by DemoKKKrats to try to browbeat either of these, who are VERY attuned to their voters. Enema will be a US Senator from AZ as long as Barry Goldwater if she keeps this up.

Both of these two will vote on KEY leftist legislation, esp. judges and abortion the “right” way for the left. But they both know that to stay alive in red states they have to throw conservatives some bones.
