If you had it now, the legislatures would appoint crooks with no possibility of them being voted out. Jeff Flake would be a senator for life in Arizona. He was in the legislature before. We need another way. That one just puts another layer of crooks between us and DC.
TexasGator is always a prick.
You might as well ask a Democrat not to commit voter fraud. You'd get the same results.
“Tell us what the hell it said, I’m not going to the hill. Stop being a prick.”
If you wish to be ignorant better to not parade it.
Wouldn’t it be grand, if you didn’t parade being a prick?
My God what a piece of human debris this asshat is!!!!!
if they get this bill passed, by whatever trick or false flag event, it will effectively end opposition to the democrat party at the state and national level. in particular, the pesky states of florida and texas will change control, and the senate will be majority dem.
the law has provisions that are to numerous to quickly list but all horrific. even if scotus does a 50/50 split on what it in the bill, half of it will still constitute game and match for the DNC.
given the importance of this bill, and the alternative of a slaughter in november, I don’t see how they don’t make it pass by any means necessary.
we can all point at points that are ‘the end of the republic,’ but this would be one of the big ones. for folks with somewhere better they can go, this is the 2nd warning buzzer to go ahead and start leaving. that said, I am not sure where is ‘better’ at this point in the 1st world.
My God what a piece of human debris this asshat is!!!!!
Who, shumer or texas gator?

We would have maybe 30 states with two republican senators. (This is a guess but we certainly lead in control of state legislature bodies as per the above link.)
Basically vetoproof, and also able to command a lot more attention in District One.
The small states have a little more power in the senate now, and back before the 17th amendment, small states had even more power because they elected their state’s US Senators.
This is a Free Republic, not a damn democracy!
What you are advocating is worse than before the 17th — LESS power for smaller localities, MORE powers in centralized hands. More of a damn democracy for the benefit of District One.
Mass centralization in “District One” via a “democracy” of 51% voting to eat the other 49% (two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner) — forever more — is what getting rid of the 17th amendment contributing to.
We would still have to fight in our STATES to be sure our legislatures were properly composed to elect the right US Senators, but that is a much better battle which We the People have already proven we can win.
Repeal the 17th Amendment!
Weirdad
Yours is the most cogent I have seen written on this topic. If you do not mind I would like to use it as a basis to a larger written expose.
Chuckie of course!!!!
by all means, it depresses the hell out of me though. no attribution please.
“pass VOTING RIGHTS legislation”
“Republicans block a VOTING RIGHTS bill”
Pushing the narrative with all their might.
God, I truly despise all liberals.
Kamikaze legislation.
Partisan Media Shill and Stooge alert.
Senators opened an emotional, raw debate Wednesday on voting legislation that will not pass...
It’s a stunning setback for President Joe Biden and his party.
Prepare to mine lots of salt...
They also continue depicting sensible measures to insure secure elections as voter suppression and "Jim Crow 2.0". I can only fathom one reason why so many are trashing their political futures for this proposed law.
They are not merely corrupt, they're purposely evil people who believe their removal from office a temporary state until regaining power under this law's guarantee of one-party rule. That and they serve Satan.
