It would appear that the FCC and the FAA have a failure to communicate.
Holy crap! The FAA is so far behind in testing real-world situations, I’m surprised we’re not forced to ingest eye-of-newt before boarding the airplane because, well: heebeejeebees!
Seriously, it’s been disproven that “electronic devices” cause interference in aircraft decades ago, and just recently they’ve gotten rid of the requirement to turn those off.
They just need to do some damned testing. Much easier to vilify an entire industry on superstition, though.
It seems this creates a market opportunity for makers of airport electronic systems and avionics, to offer new generations of equipment which are “ Certified 5G compliant”.
One has to wonder how many electronic conglomerates making airport/aircraft equipment also are making 5G equipment.
The airlines get nothing out of this except higher costs to cover new equipment.
You would have thought this would have been tested many months ago.
Pathetically sad, just like the Covid Jab !!
Assuming they define C-band in the traditional (non-EW) way, only thing i know aircraft use there is radar altimeters.
I could see that being of concern if real.
Has there ever been any communications development that the Airline industry didn’t claim that it would crash all their airplanes? GPS will kill us all. No really it will this time.
Considering this “impending switch-on” has been in the works for years, I have to wonder what (if any) efforts have been made over that time to identify and resolve an issue like this.
