I believe South Korea is farthest ahead in 5G usage, and many large cities and regions in China as well

How are they managing this problem?

Airlines fear C-band 5G signals will disrupt planes' navigation systems, particularly those used in bad weather.

The Bermuda Triangle. Don't take off without it!

This has been an ongoing concern for decades now following democrat admins since klinton trying to sell off spectrum for more revenue (and obviously kickbacks). Ligado was the last one I was aware of. 5G bands reside near GPS bands and 5G activity raises the noise floor to a point where GPS reception is at risk.

I say this is all B.S. The industry wants this as it puts 5G in the forefront. Free publicity for selling new 5G phones.

Nothing to see here.

Seems more than a little unlikely, but with Biden in charge... who knows. meanwhile... New Amazon Luna game controllers dispense money from cash machines using Russian App.

5G is different in different countries and different using different equipment. Its not one standard everywhere in the world. I assume that hospitals, military, and aviation are all areas where some of their equipment was able to exist outside of the actual laws. And now that the space is being used by cell phones it may cause some older or nonconforming equipment to not work correctly. 5G is here. They can’t stop it. But Boeing and airlines should run some test flights. Remember how they told you to turn off all your phones for the entire flight. Ridiculous. But they will probably try to do that again.

There is a lot of confusion about 5G. What is in use now is low and mid-band 5G frequencies. C-Band is the high band and is much faster.
The third bucket of spectrum where wireless operators are deploying 5G is in the millimeter wave spectrum. This is very high on the spectrum chart in the 24 GHz band and higher. The GSMA recommends that operators support millimeter wave spectrum in the 26 GHz, 40 GHz, 50 GHz and 66 GHz bands for mobile services. However, the association also notes that spectrum in the 26 GHz and 28 GHz already have strong momentum from operators and added that these bands are adjacent and therefore make it easier for handsets to support.

Besides its low-band 5G offering, AT&T also has a high-band 5G, which it’s calling 5G+. This is deployed in the company’s 36 GHz band millimeter wave spectrum and it offers extra speed and capacity and is intended for high-traffic areas like campuses and arenas. AT&T’s 5G+ is available in parts of 23 cities and the company is making it available to only enterprises.

Likewise, T-Mobile also has deployed 5G in six markets using millimeter wave that supplements its 600 MHz 5G network. The company has said it is using 39 GHz spectrum in its Las Vegas market and 28 GHz spectrum in the other five markets.

Meanwhile Verizon is currently only offering 5G using millimeter wave spectrum. The company deployed its 5G service in 31 cities so far and is also using spectrum in the 28 GHz and 39 GHz bands.

I’m not a pilot so please excuse my ignorane. Do they teach pilots how to navigate or at least have a navigator on board? How did pilots find their way before satellites and other tech. Is navigation a lost skill?

Question: why do cell phones work around all kinds of electronic systems without affecting them but airlines will fall out of the sky if you turn a cell phone on?

5G has been developed over a good number of years. One would have hoped that the potential of the system to interfere with other comm/nav systems would have been fully evaluated. At least that's what competent engineers would do, and ALL that I know are extremely competent and capable of out thinking ANY politician without effort. So, if there is a problem here, something is very, very fishy. It does smell like a typical result of political corruption. Something smells very Clinton/Dorkbama/Big Tech pile of Obamastuff here. Of course, since our press considers the operation of an incandescent light to be beyond their meager capabilities, nothing will be done. This will be interesting to watch. Summery: Something is rotten in Denmark DC. But then again, D.C. is always rotten.

“’impending’ switch-on of 5G mobile phone services ... planned for Wednesday, “

Isn’t it already switched on? I know my god-forsaken smart phone has shown the 5G icon since summer.
