Hawaii may soon change its definition of fully vaccinated when it comes to domestic travel, requiring visitors to have received a COVID-19 booster shot to meet the threshold.
Hawaii Gov. David Ige indicated during an interview with the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that his administration is weighing making the move, but he noted the policy would not immediately go into effect so that people would have time to adjust their plans.
"We know that the community needs time to react to that, so we would have to provide at least two weeks for those who may not be up-to-date to go to have the opportunity to go and get vaccinated if they need to," the Democratic governor told the outlet last week.
Under the current rules under the state's "Safe Travels" program, travelers are considered fully vaccinated if they have received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Domestic travelers who are fully vaccinated are currently allowed to skip a mandatory five-day quarantine period when entering Hawaii, while those who are not fully vaccinated are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test within one day of travel to the state.

SMH.
Hawaii must have a death wish for their tourism. I’m not “dying” to go to Hawaii if that is the price it takes. Sorry, no poison jabs and boosters injected into me. I had Covid in September and I’m happy with my natural antibodies. Adverse side effects for life or death is a price I’m not willing to pay to go anywhere even the grocery store.
Like I said this will never end
(so we would have to provide at least two weeks)
Two weeks to flatten the curve
Just returned from six days in Hawaii. Most restrictive state in the Union. Outdoor masks required almost everywhere.
And I am willing to bet that their Covid numbers are statistically no different than almost any other state, and maybe even worse than Florida.
Why is this chain of islands a state anyway? Hawaiian natives are some of the most stuck-up and racist people around. They’ve always hated being a state.
It’s time they just resorted to bring a kingdom again. If they want military defense that’s fine, but they should have never became a state.
Been there three times: twice to Oahu, once to Maui. Have no desire to return.
Why not go to Florida, Caribbean, Mexico? Cheaper and very limited - if any - restrictions. And for most of the country much, much closer.
Agreed. I’d rather have Puerto Rico a state than Hawaii.
Been there once - Honolulu for 5 days. Have no desire to return, especially now. The sky-high prices on everything are a real turn-off. I was also shocked at the number of homeless people.
No boosters here
Hawaii is off the list then
Omicron will be gone in a couple months
Possible More people will die from the effects of another round of spike protein juice than from covid
Surf’s up!
unconstitutional. period.
The societal rot seems to be moving eastward across the Pacific.
“Most restrictive state in the Union. Outdoor masks required almost everywhere.”
The opposite is true — Hawaii does not require outdoor masks anywhere!
No Vacs for illegals though.
