WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Two days after the presidential election on Nov. 2, 2020, the Oath Keepers were already convinced that victory had been stolen from President Donald Trump and members of the far-right militia group were making plans to march on the U.S. Capitol.
“We aren’t getting through this without a civil war,” the group’s leader, Stewart Rhodes, wrote fellow members, according to court documents. “Too late for that. Prepare your mind. body. spirit.”
Five days after the election, when The Associated Press and other news outlets declared Democrat Joe Biden the winner, the documents say Rhodes told Oath Keepers to “refuse to accept it and march en-masse on the nation’s Capitol.”
The indictment last week of Rhodes, the leader of the Oath Keepers, and 10 other members or associates was stunning in part because federal prosecutors, after a year of investigating the insurrection of Jan. 6, 2021, charged them with seditious conspiracy, a rarely-used Civil War-era statute reserved for only the most serious of political criminals.

In the passage quoted here, I see no evidence of criminality.
“Conspiracy” to trespass? They didn’t even go inside! This is the most ridiculous charge I have seen in over half a century.
“charged them with seditious conspiracy,”
Thought Rodes was the only one. Does anyone know if he self identifies as a them?
These charges were made for political reasons, to push back against all the questions raised by the lenient treatment of Ray Epps. People were asking, how can you have an insurrection with no insurrectionists?, so the DOJ cobbled this together.
AP using term "political criminals."
Meanwhile, out in Portland, US Attorney Billy Williams dropped all charges with prejudice against the ANTIFA trash who literally fought federal officers to try to break in and burn the Federal courthouse.
But it’s cool cuz they did it at night, so no one home to take the calls. Case closed.
Wow! I wonder if AP even realizes what they admitted.
How about charging him with righteous indignation.
I see Pravda has their talking points for destroying the GOP and ensconcing one party rule.
“Elmer Stewart Rhodes III, 56, founded the Oath Keepers in 2009. He and some friends decided they would form an organization around the perception of “imminent tyranny,” concerned about federal overreach and a series of unrecognized threats, like the government was planning to attack its own citizens.”
Convince me he’s wrong about that.
I'm thinking NOT.
I read the AP story and to me the indictment reads like selective quoting from speeches/emails as well as a load of made up stuff like “technical equipment” was brought with him like err.. Radios! ...
They had NO weapons according to Rhodes himself and he told his members not to bring them or anything illegal in DC.
That said, when the MSM are done Rhodes will be seen as a terrorist mastermind and chief of some awful plot. He stands little chance I’m afraid.
We are in a fight with our government, period
Yeah. Wasn’t that about the time Obama heavily armed nearly every federal department and depleted the ammunition supply chain?
The left is convening the Kangaroo Court.
They will never be convicted.
If convicted, they will be pardoned by President Trump.
Those Oath Keepers are very crafty. They disguised the insurrection by sending thousands of unarmed revolutionaries to DC and then had a crew dressed like extras from Animal House reboot occupy The Capitol. If the Japanese had thought of that on December 7th, 1941 we would all be speaking Japanese now.
