Maybe buy a couple snow plows?? And a little salt stockpile? It does happen every year.

Ice which, in Virginia, means lots of power outages. Because Dominion Energy doesn’t believe in “Right of Way Vegetation Management”, aka “trimming the trees before a storm knocks them down taking down power lines”.
It’s a real joke of a power company.

And wind.
I have seen the results of wind and ice at the same time.
The flashes of blue light from the downed power lines and the explosions of power transformers and tree branches coming down were pretty mesmerizing.
The house really shook, too, when the power lines were ripped of the siding.
This is a wise move.

They are expecting ice.
Some areas are under ice storm warnings with between 1/10 to 1/2 an inch of ice with high winds.
Ice is nothing to mess with.

Even in the north where we know how to deal with winter weather, there’s only so much you can do about ice.
Ice is heavy and unforgiving and there is NO driving on it. It’s just demolition derby time if you try.

Pop it in neutral and you can usually steer through it.
Stopping, well that’s a whole different story.

#12:
"there’s only so much you can do about ice." I remember pictures of an ice storm in Quebec in 1998 which collapsed dozens and dozens of
electrical transmission towers—not just the wires, but the whole towers themselves.

I live in NH and was visiting my brother in law in VA a few years ago when it snowed 1.5”.
Not FIFTEEN. ONE AND A HALF.
I volunteered to go out to a convenience store to grab some stuff. My life was in danger immediately!
Never seen anything like it.
