Sen. Kyrsten Sinema said Thursday that she will not vote to weaken the Senate's 60-vote filibuster threshold, bucking her party leaders yet again and dealing a major blow to Democrats' election reform effort.
The comments, which match Sinema's long-held stance on the filibuster, are effectively the final nail in the coffin of Democrats' longshot effort to pass two elections bills over unified Senate GOP opposition.
"There's no need for me to restate my longstanding support for the 60-vote threshold to pass legislation. There's no need for me to restate its role in protecting our country from wild reversals of federal policy," Sinema, D-Ariz., said. "This week's harried discussions about Senate rules are but a poor substitute for what I believe could have and should have been a thoughtful public debate at any time over the past year."

This is actually a big deal. She’s one of a few Dems who still vote w/their conscience and keep their promises.
Imagine a party that used the filibuster 327 times in 2020 and wants to do away with it in 2022.
When the Dimms stole both Georgia seats in 2020, I doubt they could have imagined that two of their own would be standing in the way of them running roughshod over our country.

I think it was Mark Levin who yesterday did a radio montage of Democrats in recent years praising the filibuster to high heaven. Hilarious, and it totally exposed their disgusting hypocrisy.
Rush used to regularly have those montages. I really miss Rush!! He would be all over this nonsense from Schumer and his gang.

I have to say I am impressed with Sinema. It’s nice to see someone with principles and stick to them in the face of lunatic forces. I pray for her safety.
I trust her more than Manchin.
i think we are at the ‘all the marbles’ point in politics. I think this bill passing is essential for the administration, and at this point I just wonder how they will pass it or creates circumstances which accomplish similar net effect.
