Russia Won't Rule Out Military Deployment to Cuba, Venezuela
Newsmax ^ | January 13, 2022

Russia on Thursday sharply raised the stakes in its dispute with the West over Ukraine, with a top diplomat refusing to rule out a Russian military deployment to Cuba and Venezuela if tensions with the United States mount.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who led the Russian delegation in Monday’s talks with the U.S. in Geneva, said he could “neither confirm nor exclude” the possibility of Russia sending military assets to Cuba and Venezuela if the talks fail and U.S. pressure on Russia mounts.

The Russia-U.S. negotiations in Geneva and a subsequent NATO-Russia meeting failed to narrow the gap on Moscow’s security demands amid a buildup of Russian troops near Ukraine. While Moscow demanded a halt to NATO expansion, Washington and its allies firmly rejected that as a nonstarter.

Russia has been in Venezuela for a long time.

Beat me to it. They've already deployed to protect their rebuilding of the Venezuelan oil industry. Which didn't go well.

They don’t have military bases there, nor do they have deployed nukes either, so what’s your point? The Chinese own the port facilities on either side of the Panama Canal, are you going to tell me those violate the Monroe Doctrine? They don’t because they’re not military bases.

You know what else invites aggression? Being obnoxious. As someone else here so eloquently put it, The US Government has been running around the world like a coked-up rock star flopping their crank into everyone’s drink.
Someone is going to eventually lay them out.

We are gleefully rolling the NATO roadshow right up to their border, throwing color revolutions on the way, randomly insulting them here and there. Ukraine as a NATO base puts us right on top of battlefields were they fought the nazis, and even puts us 70 miles from the Kursk battlefield. And missiles put there would be less than 10 minutes form Moscow.
We have finally crossed an actual “red line” and DC is hearing their protests as just business as usual, and believes they can start into the usual meaningless diplomatic process and do nothing real.

It’s predictable, they’ll put missiles in Cuba again because it perfectly expresses how they see what we are doing, and they know the propaganda value. When we do not repeat the Cuban missile crisis and get them removed, they will beclown us in front of the world.

DC has no concept of showing anyone the slightest respect. Not foreign nations, not the American people. The only ones they -carefully- toe the line for is the home of world communism... red China.

All the money that Joe and Hunter got from Ukraine must have come from the anti-Putin faction.

I guess the anti-Taliban Afghanistan government was not paying attention when Hunter showed up for lunch carrying an empty suitcase?

Agreed. And the biggest reason for the deference shown to China is money, not ideology.

The Monroe doctrine? That’s been a dead letter for a long time. Everyone forgets that other half of the Monroe doctrine, that WE would stay out of European affairs.
That doctrine was you stay out of our yard, and we stay outta yours.
The US government and military running around deep in Eastern Ukraine is not part of the Monroe doctrine.

I’m pretty sure the Brits made such an agreement with Hitler prior to his move to takeover the countries in his front yard. And such an agreement with Russia shortly before taking over the country in his back yard. With later moves on France Britain and Russia. Doesn’t profit to make agreements with dictators.

“But the Monroe Doctrine is not a treaty that Russia or anyone else must abide by”

And the oft forgotten part of that doctrine was that we would not interfere in that part of the world.

“The other bigger issue is, what the heck does the US even stand for anymore?”

Allow me to answer that, with a simple link.

You are right!! NATO countries are all around Russia. Russians would be stupid to not reciprocate. Or threaten to do so.

Russia is not expansionist. Russia is not a wealthy country. GDP is same as New York. They could not last a month in a conventional war with NATO. Not a threat to the US unless things go nuclear. I have no doubt it would in the event of war. Any war over Ukraine wound be idiotic.

Trump left the INF Treaty to give us the ability to deal with the real threat, China. If the treaty existed, we couldn’t base short range theater nukes on our island bases and in Korea and Japan.

Try to keep up.

Even without US help Taiwan would brutalize the PLA’s snowflake politically reliable army led by “generals” who purchase their positions, in cash.

Re: "Nicaragua is another possibility"

Even Chile is in play after the last election.

Do they still have violent revolutions in Latin America?

Seems like the people just go to the polls and vote the Marxists into office.

Then, after the economic catastrophe, they walk across the USA southern border and start voting for Democrats.

Just as I would say Poland would make it very difficult for the Russians should Russia get stupid over there.

Trump left the INF Treaty to give us the ability to deal with the real threat, China.

First of all, Russia and China are close allies. Second of all, here's what Trump said, which is exactly what I said:

“For far too long, Russia has violated the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty with impunity, covertly developing and fielding a prohibited missile system that poses a direct threat to our allies and troops abroad,” Trump said in a statement.

Speaking to reporters, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said today “Russia has jeopardized the United States’ security interests, and we can no longer be restricted by the treaty while Russia shamelessly violates it.”

https://qz.com/1540229/the-reason-trump-withdrew-from-inf-missile-treaty-with-russia/

Third of all, Russia is doing naval exercises right off the coast of Japan, threatening them, and recently put up anti-ship missiles just a couple miles off Japan's coast on a disputed Island.

So I know, as a Putinist, you want us to think there is no threat from Russia and that we should only focus elsewhere, but obviously Russia and China have the same goals and enemies: the USA, Japan, etc.

I would say "try to keep up," but as a Propagandist on this forum, you know you're trying to deceive people. We've been over this before, too!

What about asymmetric warfare like cyber and EMP? Those are threats too.
