Ohio Senate candidate J. D. Vance announced on Wednesday that he raised more than $1 million in the second quarter of his campaign, a smaller amount than he raised in his first three months.

According to Vance’s campaign, small donors — those who gave contributions of $250 or less — made up 90 percent of the latest quarter’s donors. The campaign also saw a rise of 4,610 new donors from the prior quarter.

"It is humbling to know that Ohioans truly believe in my campaign and that so many are willing to contribute to our shared vision for Ohio,” Vance, who is running as a Republican, said in a statement. “Ohioans are sick and tired of establishment politicians selling them cheap talking points and forgetting about them once they’ve made new friends in Washington."

Then why are so many people sending him money? Have they been duped?

We may be duped but we have to go with him. he can win. Ohio voters will have 6 years to find out. Just look at the guy in SD and Cassidy. 6 more years of these buttheads. They usually wait until their 2nd term to show their true colors.

The Republican nominee will win easily, regardless of who it is.

The only Democrat in Ohio to win a statewide race in the last decade has been Sherrod Brown and only because he ran in years favorable to Democrats. He'll get slaughtered in 2024.

$1 million is peanuts in a Senate race. Even a backwater like Iowa can require $100 million or more.

There’s barely 10 months until the election, and there’s primary spending first.

Tucker loves this guy and pushes him all the time. Vance is a former dimocrat who actually voted for hillary AND biden. This joker voted against Trump twice and bad mouthed Trump both times and now we’re supposed to believe he’s a conservative....NO FREAKIN WAY!

His popularity is largely the result of his bestselling book “Hillbilly Elegy.” He’s a latter-day Elmer Gantry, a slick-talking phony.

The same people who complain about RINOs in the U.S. senate are also the same people who will vote for RINOs like J.D. Vance and Arizona’s Attorney General Mark Brnovich. Insanity prevails.

Opponents are running ads highlighting about six or seven totally disgusting anti-Trump statements this guy made before he thought getting elected to something was a good idea. The election in Ohio this year is a challenge because both senate seat and governor are up for grabs. Most of the strong gop candidates are running for governor. This Vance may win the primary because of the publicity over his book; but the democrats will not go down without a fight since the incumbent, Chamber of Commerce Rob Portman is selling out. The democrats have a popular congressman Tim Ryan who will be a strong senate candidate. Vance is by no means assured of winning.

I wish I knew the truth. The guy talks a a great game.

I know he bashed Trump at the beginning but so did I and now I am his biggest defender. There are a lot of people who say he is a snake. It’s hard to know what to think.

What evidence do you have that Vance is no good?

I hear you brother.

But to be honest...That is the exact same reason I didn’t trust Trump. I was wrong.

If Vance is who HE says he is, he will be great.

If he is who his conservative detractors say he is, we are screwed once again.

I believe his biggest funder is Peter Thiel. Despite being gay, Thiel has been pretty rock solid on Trump, liberty, immigration, globalism, etc... Thiel seems to me to be the red pilled, nationalist libertarian version of the Koch brothers who are more corpratist, open border, globalist libertarians.

Vance is a former dimocrat who actually voted for hillary AND biden.

That is not true.

He voted for McMullen in 2016. I wasn't able to find info on 2020 but I am certain he didn't vote for Biden.

I have not picked a candidate yet but I am starting the process of trying to decide.

One of the best ways to judge a candidate is to see who supports them and who opposes them.

Vance is supported by Trump supporting, anti-immigration, nationalist folks like Peter Thiel and is opposed by open border, corpratist, globalist groups like Club for Growth.

I just read this article....

https://www.washingtonpost.com/magazine/2022/01/04/jd-vance-hillbilly-elegy-radicalization/

It is from the Washington Post which is a terrible liberal rag but there are still some nuggets of info to pick out. After reading this I can see a fuller picture of why he used to believe what he believed and how it is not that different from what he believes now and how it may be valid.
