The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reportedly considering altering its masking guidance to recommend individuals wear “highly protective N95 or KN95 masks,” the Washington Post reported on Monday.
Citing an official “close to the deliberations who was not authorized to speak publicly,” the Post reported that the federal health agency is considering the recommendation change in the wake of the highly contagious omicron variant, despite the fact that it appears to be a more mild form of the illness.

N95 masks were not designed to be worn day in and day out for an 8 hour shift.
Cloth masks are only a barely functioning sneeze guard! They aren’t made to be air filters. If you want better filtering get a better mask!like used in industry & agriculture when spray painting or applying pesticides the have separate filter elements that can be removed/replaced as needed & with filters removed than can be washed with warm water & soap then left to dry with out harm to the mask if done intelligently.
So wear a better piece of ppe that is worth a crap.

IIRC during the Ebola scare under Obama and a Texas hospital had to deal with isolation, etc. of Ebola-exposed patient(s), the CDC had NO guidelines published with respect to the level of suit protection, quarantine, and procedures. They actually blamed the HOSPITAL for their lack of guidance as I remember.
AFAIC, the CDC is nothing but a mouthpiece whose primary function is to provide ‘scientific’ cover for leftist political efforts to control the populace.
Funny thing is, back then, when I had that post directed at me, there was a lot of room for introspection.
I clearly remember thinking “Am I being hysterical? Am I jumping to conclusions? Am I justified at this point in connecting dots in this damning fashion?”
Now? I don’t have that introspective process. Now, I openly dread the implications of what government has by fiat empowered itself to do.
At that time, the fact that the government would openly mandate the forced inoculation of the citizenry with a known dangerous substance, for a pathogen that has a lethality within throwing distance of a severe strain of flu...well, that wasn’t even in my comprehension.
I had no idea they would do THAT.

I spent 25 years working for New York State in uniform, in their prison system. It didn't take me long to learn to question everything, and not trust anything or anyone. Even though I've been retired since 2003, that really hasn't changed for me.
