Guerrilla war exercise to be fought across rural North Carolina counties, Army warns

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A “realistic” guerrilla war will be fought across two dozen North Carolina counties in the coming weeks, with young soldiers battling seasoned “freedom fighters,” according to the U.S. Army.

The two-week “unconventional warfare exercise” will be staged Jan. 22-Feb. 4 on privately owned land. And it will be realistic enough to include the sounds of gunfire (blanks) and flares, the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School said in a news release.

Exact times, locations and exercise specifics were not provided.

However, advance publicity is intended to make sure civilians — including law enforcement officers — don’t mistake the fighting for terrorism or criminal activity, which has happened in the past.

“Residents may hear blank gunfire and see occasional flares. Controls are in place to ensure there is no risk to persons or property,” the warfare center said.

I was able to spend time with my SIL over Christmas. He's in the 82nd. He was telling me just how woke and eff'd up things are. Moral is very poor. Officers are being disrespected by enlisted men. There is a lot of hazing of slick sleeves (those that have not been deployed) and officers do not do anything about it. There is always some kind of woke training going on and in general just a lot of sitting around other wise. It is PT, eat, sit, eat everyday. A lot of people not doing their jobs and forcing the work onto a few. What I didn't hear was anything about practicing killing and breaking things. There are a couple of exercises each year, but other than that not much.

Our military needs a major overhaul in leadership.

Years ago, here in central Alabama, the Air Guard had a jet malfunction. The pilot punched off his tip tanks and made it to the base. One of them went sailing over a deer blind with two good ‘ol boys in it. They didn’t know if it was Russians or aliens but they took off for civilization. Called the sheriff who thought it over and called the Guard. They wanted to go get it but he told them to wait until after deer season.
My husband drew the short straw and got to supervise the ensuing goat rope. They found one tank way back in the swamp and had a devil of a time getting it out of the mud and out of the woods. Never did find the other one. They were empty so no real danger.
