Deadly extreme weather year for US as carbon emissions soar
The Associated Press ^ | January 10, 2022 | By SETH BORENSTEIN

The United States staggered through a steady onslaught of deadly billion-dollar weather and climate disasters in an extra hot 2021, while the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions last year jumped 6% because of surges in coal and long-haul trucking, putting America further behind its 2030 climate change cutting goal.

Three different reports released Monday, though not directly connected, paint a picture of a U.S. in 2021 struggling with global warming and its efforts to curb it.

Scientists have long said human-caused climate change makes extreme weather nastier and more frequent, documenting numerous links to wild and deadly weather events. They say hotter air and oceans and melting sea ice alter the jet stream which brings and stalls storm fronts, makes hurricanes wetter and stronger, while worsening western droughts and wildfires.

Experts expected U.S. greenhouse emissions to increase from the steep 2020 pandemic dive, but how big it jumped worried them.

“What was dismaying was that emissions bounced back even faster than the economy as a whole,” said Rhodium Group partner Kate Larsen, a co-author of the emissions report, which was based on daily and weekly government data.“

Coal use increased for the first time since 2014, 17% from 2020, mostly because of spikes in natural gas prices, Larsen said.

“This is an example of how we’ve been riding on cheap natural gas to drive coal’s decline over the last 15 years,” Larsen said.

This is a PSA:

There is a giant asteroid headed towards earth. It’s roughly the size of Manhattan.

It will probably impact in NYC, but can’t be sure. DC is being evacuated.

This information was given to me by the team working the Webb Hubble telescope project.

More to follow.

5.56mm

Hmmm... Has anyone priced lumber and other building supplies lately? I guarantee if there was a flat line way to figure these costs and damages while not including inflation and spikes in costs we incurred year over year and population density increases in certain areas then this “spike” would fade to a yearly normal.

Just the huge population increases on the coasts, you know, where the damage is mostly concentrated year after year, then perhaps it’s not the incredibly dire indicator they are praying it is for taxation purposes.

I think it is so cool that the Wizard of Oz was able to predict the existence of tornadoes.

This is FROM THE REPORT, and I guess AP figures it takes up too much copy to print it:

“Based on preliminary data for 2021, Rhodium Group estimates that economy-wide GHG emissions increased 6.2% relative to 2020, though emissions remained 5% below 2019 levels.”

You’re correct. The leftist/globalist filth bags that orchestrated the covid freedom grab are certainly amazed at how little effective pushback there has been to their crazy rules and draconian diktats. They must be laughing about how their totalitarian moves spawned the cult of Covidism. Yes, next up will be the final push to enslave the world, otherwise known as the”climate crisis.” I have few doubts they’ll be triumphant. Baaaa! Baaaa! Baaaa!

Climate change is crazy because anything I might do about it is trivial to the trivialth power. If I drive fast or slow or drive a gas or electric car or not use a gas lawnmower, nothing i can do personally will have any impact on climate. I can join forces with all of the non-elite liberals in America to cut emissions and it won’t make any difference at all.

Liberals and environmentalists have found out that carbon dioxide is such a tiny portion of the climate change equation that they have to implicate methane to claim that mankind causes climate warming. Methane is released into the atmosphere by petroleum drilling, permafrost melting and supposedly livestock digestion. There are normal sources of methane like decomposing organic matter. Apparently people cause that by landfills.

Identifying methane as a greenhouse gas helps vegans who don’t want anyone eating meat to get rid of meat. It makes the petroleum industry a menace. It magnifies the warming risk because everyone knows permafrost melting is caused by the already warming.

Just as when people learn that carbon dioxide is such a miniscule proportion of the total atmosphere they become skeptical about how much impact it has. Warmists have had to switch from carbon dioxide to “greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane”.

Yes...

In the famous Gore An inconvenient truth, he had the global atmospheric temperatures plotted over time on the bottom of his big screen, and had the CO2 levels plotted over the same time at the top of the screen, and he said:

"...Now an important point: In all of this time, 650,000 years, the CO2 level has never gone above 300 parts per million. Now, as I said, they can also measure temperature. Here is what the temperature has been on our earth. One thing that kind of jumps out at you is. Let me put it this way. If my class mate from the sixth grade that talked about Africa and South America might have said, “Did they ever fit together?” Most ridiculous thing I ever heard. But they did of course. The relationship is very complicated..."

Boy, it sure LOOKS like they fit together, and they do. But they do it deliberately ass-end backwards, separate out the two curves and compress the time frame where a few hundred years won't be apparent at all.

It is "complicated" all right, as Gore said. It was intentional that they did not overlap the two curves. Because if they had overlapped the two curves and expanded it out far enough, even the most un-astute observer would notice that the temperature would peak, and then several hundred years later, the CO2 level would peak. But they didn't WANT people to see that, because it doesn't fit their "model" of catastrophe.

That is called "outgassing" so, as the water warms (the water is the largest reservoir of stored CO2 on earth IIRC) it can hold less CO2, so the CO2 exits the water and enters the air. Hence the several hundred years lag.

There is a guy, Lord Monckton, who is DESPISED by the Left, because he doesn't care what they think of him, and tells you all about the stupidity of Global Warming in an entertaining yet completely understandable way. Oh, how they hate him. Let me know if you want them, and I can throw a few links your way!
