An Upstate New York wedding photographer has lost her bid to refuse service to same-sex couples after a federal judge dismissed with prejudice her lawsuit against the state.
Emilee Carpenter, a photographer and blogger based in the Southern Tier, sued the state in April, alleging that the state’s human rights law violated her First Amendment rights to free speech, free association, and free religious expression. She also said the law violated the establishment clause and her right to due process.
Carpenter named New York Attorney General Letitia James and Interim Human Rights Commissioner Jonathan Smith as defendants.
Carpenter said that the law violates her First Amendment right to freely exercise her religion because she uses her wedding photography business to exercise and express her religious beliefs about marriage.

Those people could EASILY hire a gay friendly photographer so too bad if this photographer was out sick or whose fee for a “ unique “ wedding was 500 thousand dollars!

Would this photographer be forced to photograph a wild sex orgy or anything?
I’m guessing many of these gay couples purposefully seek out Christians, leave out details, like that the person that orders the service is gay and then complains after the cake maker, photographer etc tries to refuse.
The shock game entertains them much like it does for teenagers and then they get to fight the patriarchy.
Maybe Plan B should be to say, “Sure, I’ll take pictures of your ‘event’”, and then just royally screw up the pictures. Just because I have to allow you to hire me doesn’t mean that I have to do a good job.
Same goes for Christian bakeries. “Gays” or “transgenders” want a cake? Just serve them a platter of slop. When they accuse you of “discrimination”, just state that you have good days and bad days…must have been a bad day.
The bakeries or photographers often go down the road of principle, I would choose pragmatism.
There would be a sign on the wall behind the counter that reads, “10% of all cake proceeds will be donated to “Get Out of Being Gay Organization””. Then bake the cake; make the shoot.
But then we still have the problem of the state violating our Constitutional rights.
Get paid 1/2 up front, screw up the pictures, dont worry about the complaints, let them sue her in court for bad shots. It will cost them more in the long run.
Make sure to wear a nice gold cross on your lapel. Or a necklace.
