As the Supreme Court debated federal authority to impose a vaccine requirement on workers, the nine justices could not help but reveal their varying sentiments about the depth of America's Covid-19 pandemic and the value of vaccines.
"We know that the best way to prevent spread is for people to get vaccinated," Justice Elena Kagan said, "and to prevent dangerous illness and death is for people to get vaccinated. That is by far the best. The second best is to wear masks."
That view was not universally shared.
Justice Clarence Thomas, a conservative, took a different tack than liberal Kagan regarding the sweeping rule the Occupational Health and Safety Administration seeks to impose.

During the dramatic special hearings that lasted nearly four hours, the conservative-dominated court appeared ready to reject the Biden administration's vaccine-or-test requirement for large employers but perhaps allow a vaccine mandate for certain health workers in Medicaid and Medicare-funded facilities.
The justices' competing vantage points and ideologies -- particularly against broad regulatory powers -- were evident throughout the session.
In more human terms, one aspect did unite most of them, as the highly infectious Omicron variant now rages: the complications of mask-wearing and when to drop it down for conversation. All justices except Neil Gorsuch wore a mask on the bench. Some removed their face coverings when they asked questions, at times fumbling to release them from their ears. Some kept them off longer than others, irrespective of whether they were asking questions.
Until Friday, only Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who has diabetes and has taken extra precautions with her health, had worn a mask during the justices' oral arguments. On Friday her seat was empty, as she participated via a feed from her chambers.

More likely on how they view the Biden presidency. The sweaty desperation of KBS betrayed their fear that Biden’s presidency will effectively be over if his big play is rejected— after all it’s supposedly how he got 80 million votes; he was tough guy crushing the virus and he had a PLAN . Roberts may be persuadable that it is historically undesirable to have the Supreme Court launch a torpedo into the ammunition magazine of the presidency, based on separation of powers, but can he bring one of the Trump appointees along to that viewpoint?

The ONLY criterion should be the Justices value of our Constitution.
And if they do not value our Constitution they are unworthy of the bench.
Who doesn't "value vaccines" if they are real vaccines according to the decades-old definition of a vaccine?
CNN might as well have written "may depend on how the justices value science."

I’m assuming KBS refers to Sotomayor, Kagan and Breyer? They really seemed desperate to help Biden, particularly Sotomayor and Breyer from when I listened.
They ignore the fact that viruses burn out. Rather than present nature as it is they pretend crisis as an excuse to justify an unprecedented heavy hand of government.
Silly me. I thought the only thing they are to depend on is the Constitution in a one-size fits all ruling.
How stupid of me.

CNN is signaling to the Justices that they will give them a pass on their poor showing after the ruling.

Kagan raged, Breyer squeaked “we don’t really need a stay, you’re not asking us to issue a stay,” Sotomoyor just lied.
It’s insane with people actually talking about ‘which variant’ they had or have like they can tell the difference when even the covid tests can’t discern the difference.
If you get the sniffles it could just be as easily a cold...if body aches and loss of smell, which goes with stuffy nose, could be flu and there’re various degrees and kinds of those as well.
It’s just too insane now!
