Sooner or later COVID will wane and probably become endemic — that is, part of life, like the flu. And with that, the newfound power of public-health technocrats would wane.
They know this, and it does not make them happy. So, advocacy has commenced to establish a “new normal” — gosh, I hate that term — that would not restore society simply to a state of accepting respiratory illness as a part of life, but rather, keep us continually obsessed with the presence and prevention of illness.
Toward this end, bioethicist Ezekiel Emanuel and two co-authors wrote three advocacy columns in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Space does not permit a full recounting. But they are free, so all readers can access them by hitting the links provided.
First, they accept that the current policy of “no COVID” cannot be accomplished. True.
Then, they argue that our response to COVID becoming endemic should be to treat all respiratory ailments as one thing by aggregating statistics. From, “A National Strategy for the ‘New Normal” of Life with Covid” (my emphasis):
The “new normal” requires recognizing that SARS-CoV-2 is but one of several circulating respiratory viruses that include influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and more. COVID-19 must now be considered among the risks posed by all respiratory viral illnesses combined. Many of the measures to reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (eg, ventilation) will also reduce transmission of other respiratory viruses. Thus, policy makers should retire previous public health categorizations, including deaths from pneumonia and influenza or pneumonia, influenza, and COVID-19, and focus on a new category: the aggregate risk of all respiratory virus infections.

Freedom of choice, is an antagonist for authoritarians who demand that government and *experts with expertise* are the answer for pandemic.
Typically, in order for government and said “experts” to justify their ego and budgets for exercising their might, they insist that they must cancel/crush:
- therapies and treatments,
- self-help type medical care, and
- associated decision-making human behavior,
that are other than what the state approves and/or dictates.
Whereas, until now, we had individual agency and responsibility to take care of our selves, family members, friends and neighbors . . . from now on, the government and associated “experts with expertise” plus “liberal” (leftist) voices that cancel free speech, are insisting that our right to freely choose our medical care and decisions, be replaced by endless subscription.
Subscription - the same as, now, you do not purchase a software product, rather, you subscribe and rent -— because owning is being outlawed or replaced by gov’t regulations (you might still have a title, but your freedoms to act are prohibited).
Government formerly restricted to what WE ENUMRATED as the specific powers of government and its agents . . . shall henceforth be government and its “experts” now asserting, that it/they shall enumerate what we can do, and thus leave all remaining authority to such governors.
Our Constitution replaced by a leftwing “terms of service” and policies “for other purposes.”
How is Ezekiel Emmanuel related to Rahm (”Never let a crisis go to waste”) Emmanuel?
Brother.
Spawn of Cain....
This guy has a murderer's row of quotes, and I have listed a few of them below. As you read these, keep in mind: he and people of a like mindset are proud of these quotes.
This guy must be pretty frosted to find himself outghouled by the current trajectory of government reaction to CV-19 et al. He’s probably found himself NOT on the boards of any mega pharma companies and he’s left out in the cold without the grift he must think he deserves.
Too bad. Not.
Isn’t he the one who said no one should get to live past 70?
He’s almost 65 now. His time is almost up!
bioethicist: someone who wants you dead
Yep. Like gates and Fauci, Zeke is a eugenicist.
Yes. He is a vile piece of work.
He attitude towards human life as an ostensible physician, mirrors the attitude towards money that is harbored by socialists and communists.
It is always someone else’s life or money that is involved, never their own.
And it is pretty clear to me he is a eugenicist as well.
He is a human stain.
