U.S. companies hired employees at the fastest pace in seven months in December, before a surge in the new omicron coronavirus variant cast a fresh threat over the economic recovery, according to the ADP National Employment Report released Wednesday morning.
Companies added 807,000 jobs last month, blowing past the 400,000-job gain that economists surveyed by Refinitiv had predicted and the revised 505,000 positions added by companies in November. It marked the best month for private payroll growth since May, when employers added 882,000 jobs.

Makes want to vote for Brandon -NOT
Guess strysand was right about brandon’$ economy then.
No screaming here either way. But how many will have quit by end of January now that the holidays are over?
Seasonal hires... They will be let go this month.........................
You mean the same EVERYBODY that was kung-fu fighting?
Yay Brandon!
Article yesterday said record 5.3 million quit
I donât scream one way or the other. I will observe that ADP is usually far off the âofficialâ report. So often I do t k is why anyone even refers to their report
“Article yesterday said record 5.3 million quit”
Yes, moving on to better jobs is popular right now.
This reminds me of the Obama days, when he tried so hard to kill the energy industry and the rest of the economy but couldn’t get it done. We had a good economy despite his idiocy.
December hires = Christmas hires
Why is this a surprise? The federals have printed TRILLIONS of dollars and spent them. That is same as when my mother-in-law maxxed out all her 7 credit cards. She showered all the grand kids with presents. It was very happy times. But then she could not make even the minimum payments on each card and had to declare bankruptcy. It was very stressful to go through bankruptcy.
Right now we are in the happy times phase. The pain will come later.
If you love brandon so much why don’t you marry him
“Everybody screams bloody murder when there is a poor job report. Everybody says it’s not true when there is a good one.”
So true.
I live right above Marcellus Utica gas deposits in the country. Gas companies in 2021 have pumped a record amount of gas in our areas history and a record amount of new drilling permits were passed in 2021 under Biden. So much for being anti fossil fuels. Corporations control the politians in this country and fossil fuels are not going anywhere soon.
I do not believe anything anymore from either the right or left without documentation.
With companies pushing forward with vaccine mandates regardless of what the SC says, you are going to be getting a lot of layoffs within the next 2-3 weeks. I’m one of them.
Are these new jobs or are they replacing workers they lost last year?
I still see Help Wanted signs everywhere.
And based on these numbers it looks like a lot of them quit for a better job.
To the posters below who are saying that there will be a huge decline in jobs for January and artificially high job gains in December —
— all of these numbers are adjusted for seasonal volatility. Both the ADP report and the monthly BLS report. Seasonally adjusted.
also it’s not a conspiracy to make Biden look great ahead of this year’s midterms. It’s the same BLS that was reporting month after month about huge job gains during the Trump admin, the Reagan admin, the Clinton admin.
They are career bureaucrats who produce the most closely-watched government economic report worldwide once a month.
so take the numbers as correct, because they are accurate and vetted.
finally, I’m hoping and praying for a slumping economy and job market between now and the end of 2024 for the simple reason that job losses or weak job gains increase the chances that conservatives return control of the levers of federal power.
I want conservatives to win elections and sometimes that means hoping for a horrid economy.
We’ve got inflation going. Now we need jobs to crater for the next few years.
Cold-hearted? Maybe. Realpolitik? Yes.
Exactly.
