I’ve been eating that for over 50 years. I never knew it was called ghetto pizza, but I like it. In addition to the catsup and cheese I sprinkle chili powder and oregano on top. Yum.

This situation sounds like the parents found out he ate tasty pepperoni pizza and rather than get a belt beating (which is normal in black families), he made up a lie about ‘being forced’. Like the high school girl who claims rape when she gets pregnant.

EXACTLY! Plus I find it very hard to believe that the coach tried to force anybody to eat pizza.
He just should have refused; his religious belief doesn’t’ seem that strong.

BTW - My kids grew up eating those regularly too. Although in Southern Arizona, we sometimes use a flour tortilla and toast them in the oven instead. Kind of an open-faced Italian Quesadilla.
