I’m hispanic and I’ve never understood the term “Latino” or “Latina”.
It’s a word full of BS since most people who call themselves that are not in any way truly “Latin”.
So why did the BLM activist cop (and why is he still on the force?) shoot a perp with only a bike chain who wasn’t currently attacking?
And, more importantly, what color was the perp?
The black officer needs to be fired and jailed, for a long time. Trigger-happy killer, careless and ignored safety procedures. Doesn’t matter that he’s black, he is guilty of murdering an innocent teen girl.
Latinx is even worse.
Black people kill non black people dozens of times across America everyday.
It is strange. I have relatives of Mexican heritage. Some consider themselves hispanic because of roots from Spain. Others are mixed with Mexican Indian background but don't call themselves latino.
No kidding!
Had never heard of it until this year and when I looked it up I was stunned.
Insanity!
I can understand the phrase “hispanic”.
Spanish language, Spanish culture, Spanish heritage (some) etc.
But Latino/Latina throws a different wrench into it. It stinks to high heaven of cultural appropriation, since most people who call themselves that are mixed with Indian heritage or full blown Indians.
What connection do they have to the Romans or Latin people of Europe?
Whatever happened to “Chicano”?
Not sure. I always pictured that defined people as being Mexican heritage born in the USA, like Oscar De La Hoya.
White maybe depending on how you define it, Anglo-Saxon probably not, Protestant could be but just as big a chance not.
Good points!
My wife (Cuban) would really get ticked at the term “hispanic” used as a description of race, as it only describes a culture. Hispanics can be Celtic white to coal black. That nomenclature has started to change but you can still see references to “white hispanic”.
Since he was Polish (adopted from Poland) and Eastern Orthodox he told them that he would give them a 20% accuracy grade but that their mentor in judging people, Herr Hitler, would have given them a zero.
the perp was mexican..career criminal
LOL!
The term WASP to me reeks of racism against English people. It’s funny (and sad) to see other people project that hatred against all White people these days by using that term.
We used to have police officers who could take down any criminal who didn’t have a gun with just a nightstick. They knew right where to apply force, and the perps collapsed like a sack of potatoes.
Maybe we should revive this lost art/
“I’m hispanic and I’ve never understood the term “Latino” or “Latina”.”
My niece in law is Puerto Rican. Refer to her as Latina at your own risk.
