There are indications that the Chinese military has serious problems: It’s still a ferocious force, simply because it’s huge, but there are personnel and structural problems that will affect its fighting abilities

Xi Jinping has been doing a great deal of saber rattling of late, threatening both Australia and Taiwan. China has also been building islands in the South China Sea, flying hypersonic weapons, stealing and illegally buying vast amounts of military technology, and overtly working to make its military more manly, even as the U.S. military deals with maternity flight suits and the needs of the so-called transgender troops. Nevertheless, when all is said and done, a military is only as good as the people doing the fighting, and there are indications that China has a problem in this area.

p>The Epoch Times recently published an article entitled “Corruption Wears Down Chinese Military’s Combat Effectiveness,” a problem that marches hand in hand with a lack of battle experience:

Corruption is a widespread phenomenon in China’s military where officers, including generals, have relied not on their duration of service or military prowess to rise in the ranks but rather bribery and connections.

Experts commented that a lack of competent leaders now threaten to be severely detrimental to China’s warfighting capabilities.

Another problem for the Chinese military is that, as in England of old, members of the upper classes don’t earn their commissions, they buy them:

“A commander from a military district bribed Xu Caihou [then vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC)] 20 million yuan ($3.14 million) for a senior position. Xu then promoted this one, rather than another commander who just bribed him 10 million yuan ($1.57 million),” Major General Yang Chunchang said [in 2015].

In the Chinese military, there’s only one general who has real combat experience. Li Zuocheng, 68, served in the Vietnam War in 1979 as the director of a company consisting of about 100 soldiers. Li is the chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the CMC.

I’m sure the Chinese will read your article and get to work on it.

Thanks for pointing it out to them.

The PLA hasn’t been in a real war in 40 years, so it is hard to know how they will perform.

It causes a lot of problems, but our need to invade someone every decade or so does expose any faults in our systems.

Once they start killing I think they’ll work out any kinks pretty fast.

It sounds to me like what Xi really needs is a Spanish Civil War.

I would expect China to get involved in an African or Small Asian conflict soon..

Indications, eh?
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him. If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. Attack him where he is unprepared; appear where you are not expected.

These military devices, leading to victory, must not be divulged beforehand. …

Now I do not expect Brandon’s intelligence to verify the “indications” herein mentioned, even if they are a good sign.

If the opportunity were ever to arise, we would find we have more in common with the Chinese people than we are fed from the Corporate Press.

Governments start wars and destroy economies.
People don’t.

Actually, putting aside border skirmishes and such, the last actual war of any magnitude the Chinese have fought was the Korean War. In addition to having virtually no core of combat experienced veterans they are severely lacking in the ability to project power and their logistics ability and expertise is none existent. What all these ineptitudes adds up to is their adversaries want a fight they will have to bring the fight to them. And, that ain’t gonna happen. You’ll never see U.S. troops on mainland China again other than perhaps some special op’s forays.

Is China purging all conservative Officers? Is China promoting Gender Dysphoria among soldiers? Is China championing LGBTQI in their military? Is China forcing soldiers to receive heart harming experimental vaccines? This would be the way to cut their own throat.

Of course one has to ask are standing armies obsolete in the evolving world of cyberwar and the militarization of space?

Human wave frontal assault attacks don’t require much. Better yet, declare war and surrender 25 Million troops. They already have robotic troops in the making. They won’t need Generals, they’ll need programmers. LOL, China, different players, same game.

“.... but our need to invade someone every decade or so does expose any faults in our systems.”

I guess that’s why we bailed out with no gains in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

But, we sure showed the enormous island kingdom of Granada something.

Granada has about 200,000 total people on that spot of land in the Caribbean.

Maybe we better stay away from those ChiComs. Better yet, maybe we can send them General Milley and our LGBQTABC fighters to help them out and maybe even hold diversity training classes. I’m sure Xi would love that.

I expect that if we start fighting and survive long enough, it will be us (and other Western powers to a degree) that will work out the kinks and get back on track, probably after much loss of life.

The big question is time, of course.

However, tyrannical governments such as the Chinese Communist Party do not have a track record of making this happen. The Soviet Union and the Germans do not count, as that was less working out the kinks than it was bringing massive amounts of manpower to bear with the weather as your ally.

And Communist China does have an industrial base (largely taken from the West in what can be characterized as a zero-sum transaction) that is going to be a problem for us, and the question is how to survive long enough to reconstitute what is needed. It may not be possible in a wartime environment.

Additionally, the maxim that “Quantity has a quality of its own” also comes into play.

And all of this assumes that the Left has not managed to destroy the advantages we might have in independent thinking and action by then, and denuding the military of the values it needs to be able to “work out the kinks”.

Point is, I don’t think that assumption you made is a done deal. As a society, we have a better chance of “working out the kinks”, IMO. That is, if we don’t

This is not underestimating an enemy, which is a dangerous thing. This is a realistic estimation.

Somehow this statement got truncated, I meant to say:

Point is, I don’t think that assumption you made is a done deal. As a society, we have a better chance of “working out the kinks”, IMO. That is, if we don’t allow the Left to finish its job of destroying our advantage in a democratic society of independent thought, and also that the Left doesn't manage to complete its destruction of the US military by rotting it from within."
