The president said he was on the phone most of the day to discuss a plan to make 500 million at-home rapid tests available to Americans via direct order to address the spike in infections caused by the Omicron variant.
Key details of the program, which was unveiled last week, remain unknown. For example, it is unclear how many tests each household will be allowed to request. Nor is it known how quickly they will be mailed or when a website will be launched for people to order tests.

The at home tests are not reliable.
Not sure how they are going to do an about face on testing, but they will have to.

They also don’t placate / meet the testing requirements of the Gov as a “test”. Got be all professional and stuff. Just saying.
Any competent statistician will tell you that a population that self selects for anything is completely useless for providing valid data.

I took a home test when I woke up with a fever on Sat and it was an unequivocal positive. I only took it because I was planning to see older relatives that day. Now it’s going through my household but we aren’t bothering to test. We know.
This would be like the Japanese landing on the west coast and all Americans with rifles being encouraged to check daily with Amazon and Rite Aid to see if they had any ammo and how much they had raised the price in the past 24 hours.
Yes and I did self test (and I did it correctly—reminded me of a pregnancy test!—but I sure as heck am NOT telling the government about my positive! Most people I know who got Covid never tested or if they did just did the home test. And kept the results private.

They are better than PCR for infectiousness, at least the Abbott Binax is. Overseas tests are even better.
The whole thing is a disgrace.
Mrs L and I got it back in February and recovered fully. We have pretty much lived our lives as we choose since then. We have no doubt been “exposed” any number of times.
We have also chosen not to take this experimental medication and won’t until we are satisfied of both its efficacy and its safety.
And no one is going to force us to.
