Meacham: Trump Running in 2024 Is an ‘Unfolding’ Constitutional Crisis
Breitbart ^ | 12/26/2021 | Pam Key

Posted on 12/26/2021 9:01:16 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

Historian and author Jon Meacham said Sunday on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS” that if former President Donald Trump runs again in 2024, it would be a constitutional crisis.

Zakaria said, “I want to lay out what seems to me a reasonable scenario, which is Donald Trump seems to be trying to control the Republican Party for a purpose. This is not just a hobby. He would like to run again. If he runs again, assumption number one, he wants to run, assumption number two, he will get the nomination because the party seemed enthralled with him. He will run, and in 2024, whatever happens, will he claim he won. Doesn’t that present us with a constitutional crisis?”

It’s way, way too early to think much about that. We should focus on state and congressional races now. We can worry about 2024 next December.

A Trump 2024 campaign may well happen. I would expect it to have beneficial effects (for America) during the primary/caucus season. Mainly by early extermination of the competing campaigns of RINOs and other useless candidates...to the ultimate benefit of the most effective conservative. 78-year-old Trump getting the nomination and winning the general election I don’t expect. If I’m wrong about that, I’ll give you a dollar.

Jon Meacham attended my wife’s church during the time she was there.

I’ve been watching him for some time. He’s gotten more and more radical over time.

Do not trust what he says!

Liberals love throwing the word "constitutional" into everything, as if they know anything about the Constitution.

Yes, I noticed that he didn't quote the Constitution and try to explain how Trump running would violate it.

The Twenty-Second Amendment starts, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

To me it's clear that Trump could be President again, but then liberals don't seem to understand the clear meaning of, " ... the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

you both may be wrong, LOL

The “constitutional crisis” aspect is that with Trump we may start to enforce and utilize the Constitution and its framework. That would be a crisis for most leftists.

Constitutional Crisis? GD I hate these people! Everything Trump does, or thinks is a crisis, or grounds for impeachment.

I would love to see Trump win in ‘24, but if I’m honest, the only way he would be able to accomplish ANYTHING in office would be if all the RINOs got sacked in 22/24, and we got a strict constitutionalist majority in both houses. Otherwise, if it’s anything less, then look for EVERYTHING to lead to an investigation, impeachments #3-infinity, and anything/everything that they can do to impede him being able to make ANY meaningful changes. Drain the swamp? Impeachable offense. Clean up the FBI? “Political retribution worthy of impeachment”. Get rid of Fauci? “Dictator firing people who don’t agree with his racist world view”.

if former President Donald Trump runs again in 2024, it would be a constitutional crisis.

Only as a violation of the 22nd Amendment for winning the election three times.

What a hack.

“He will run, and in 2024, whatever happens, will he claim he won. Doesn’t that present us with a constitutional crisis?”

Did it in 2020?

“I think we came as close to losing the Constitution —and when we say democracy, America is not a democracy, America is a Republic, so let’s call it American democracy — we came as close that day as we had in Fort Sumter.”

Hey, idiot, look at the results. The liberals used the Constitution to make sure it wouldn’t be threatened with court actions, by the refusal to validate the votes coming from the states where thousands of people have been arrested for voter fraud thus not completing the job they were elected, and took an oath, to protect...the Constitution.

So the writer of this trash is nothing more than a trolling. dishonest, sky is falling advocating cheating the people they are supposed to be working for.

A Constitutional crisis...you can put your life on it. The Constitution allows him to run and the liberals can’t stop it even though they tried...and he might win. To the liberals, that’s a crisis.

When Trump runs and wins his 3rd term in 2024, a few posers here will be having their own crisis as well.

Wish I had a nickel for every Dem-proclaimed “Constitutional Crisis” I’ve lived through in my years. At any rate, if Trump is wise, he’ll pursue a kingmaker-statesmen role instead and the Dems won’t need to worry about imagined crises.

Meachum fancies himself an old school southern liberal like Atticus Finch in love with virtue signaling tripe of the vaunted civil rights movement which he being only 52 knows little about except from afar

Despite this affection for romantic liberalism he attaches himself to the cultural Marxism of the modern left in his open support for Biden and co

He’s establishment ...prep school raised...fancy southern schools

The Bushes and other deep state figures love him

As I look at the dem party, the media, the gov, half the red party... It’s a wonder we can still call this a country...and operational!..

It’s in a death cycle...if wiser heads don’t save our once beautiful creation, .. We shall be history.
