South Africa (Nationwide) appears to have passed the peak of COVID-19 infections from the omicron wave, researchers said. It could be an indication that the variant moves quickly before dying down, providing a timeline for the U.S. as cases ramp up...
The country saw their highest case total of 27,000 new infections on Thursday (Dec 16), and numbers have since dropped down to 15,424 on Tuesday (Dec 21).
South Africa's experience with omicron could predict the next few weeks of spread in the U.S., where cases with the variant are now dominating. If South Africa's trend holds, the U.S. could see a peak in cases in January before dying down.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control said Monday that between Dec. 12 and 18, omicron made up 73% of all new COVID-19 cases in the country, a major jump from the week prior when it accounted for just 12%.

London followed the South African Omicron curve pretty closely, and has also already crested. That is very promising for the USA, because the UK Delta curve was much more like that in the USA than South Africa's was.
It looks likely that Omicron in the USA will set new records for daily case counts, not overwhelm hospitals, and peak around the second week in January.
Uh oh... get ready for Fraudci and the rest of the scum to cue up the next “variant”...
As the variants get more infectious (and Delta and Omicron are doozies for infectiousness), a higher percentage of the population needs to acquire immunity, to reach the Herd Immunity Threshold.
It is looking like Omicron needs over 90%.
There gets to be less and less room left for any future variants to run.

Despite high numbers, hospitalizations are not out of the ordinary. Looking more and more like sniffles and runny nose best treated at home.
They keep talking about how transmissible this variant is, but never talk about serious illness or death. AND YET....in the same breath .....they tell people YOU MUST GET VACCINATED!
Honestly. They must know that most people are that dumb.
The happy talk begins. The media has been told by the DNC that unless they can show VICTORY over the virus the mid terms are lost. And so happy talk.
It won’t matter what the numbers are. They will just data pick good news.
And this is an example. SA’s case total had a single day spike early Dec. It has been in the 20K range since, and today higher than yesterday’s 21098 — 21,156 today (still counting). Deaths are in the 30s early Dec, and the last 3 days 105, 99 and today’s count is 75 and still counting.
The US is doing peak days within weeks of about 1800 deaths/day, up from 200ish a 2-3 months ago.
Stop presuming immunity is possible. The omicron mutations were specifically where they needed to be to defeat immunity, be it from natural recovery or from vax.
This is terrible news for the pandemic industry! They must quickly find (or create) another variant!

Gas doc mentioned that the Spanish flu came to its natural end in the same way.
They should just declare victory and move on. I’m sure there’s another experiment they need to do on some poor animal so they can continue to get their kicks.
Epiforecasts.io posts Rt (R0 as a function of time) daily for the US and each state. For the four days 12.18 to 12.21, the national Rt has been between 0.99 and 1.1. If this is accurate and Omicron is 73% of the cases, then it’s not as contagious as it’s being presented.
Rt.live used to post Rt values for each state. Oddly enough, these tended to cluster around a value of 1. I would have expected herd immunity would have caused these to drift downwards.
The 73% number was new cases. Cases last for weeks. Overall presence in the population is still well under 50%
