Manslaughter seems about right given the lack of intent.
A mistake can send any of us to prison. Especially if that mistake costs someone their life.
He was a seasoned professional and her equipment rig was completely out of order, which is why she pulled the wrong damn weapon. The taser was right next to the pistol which is not recommended.
LEOs tend to agree that the taser has a variety of effectiveness. A number of officers don’t carry them, too unpredictable.
The perp was a felon and was resisting arrest.
My wife and I watched the whole trial. Pretty sure she had the tazer on her left side and her firearm on the right side. They made a big deal out of that because she would have had to use the other arm. She already had a hold of her pistol grip when she walked up. So out of subconscious auto-response she went with what she had in her hand already. Maybe her mind told her tazer, but her auto-response was already out and ready with the pistol before she could think.
