Backfire: Chuck Schumer Just Put Vulnerable Senate Democrats in Mortal Political Danger
westernjournal.com ^ | 12/21/21 | Abby Liebing

Schumer might have banked on his announcement about the vote as a show of strength, but it’s almost certain to backfire.

In a nutshell, Schumer is making the matter worse by forcing the vote if the bill is doomed to fail. This will weaken the Democrats’ position in Senate and make the whole party look ineffective, which will especially hurt those running for re-election in competitive states who are already vulnerable because of the Biden administration’s failures, ranging from illegal immigration, to the coronavirus, to the economy to foreign policy.

It also makes Schumer himself look weak, but this is the result of him bowing to the pressure the left, especially New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who could challenge Schumer in a primary next year.

“Mr. Schumer’s calculation is no doubt career preservation, as he’s bowed to AOC for months. But we wonder how other Senate Democrats feel, especially those planning to run for re-election next year in swing states,” the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal wrote.

This whole debacle is good for Republicans though. As the Democrats are now unable to pass the bill and fight among themselves, the Republicans have been standing firmly against the Build Back Better bill.

Schumer is courting disaster — for his party, and his own tenure as the Senate’s majority leader.

Schumer desperately wanted to be Majority Leader.

Now he is and he's been a failure.

I just hope it is true and that bill contributes to a ‘Pubbie sweep of the Senate.

I think the Demonrats know they will lose the House and Senate.

This is desperate behavior and we can expect more of it.

Cornered rats and all...

Not so fast grasshopper... hear rumors Manchin is walking back his No intentional vote! The coal union boss has just had a stern talk to Manchin... Apparently he’s going wobbly. I knew you can’t trust that socialist piece of crap rat. By tomorrow he’ll be whistling a different tune!

Oh I get it. A Christmas Eve vote. A few republicans stay home and miss the vote. Manchin still votes no, but it passes with some kind of 47/49 vote.
The Republican Party will save BBB.

Just watch.

Yep! He’s playing solely to the 20% of the electorate who are certified nut jobs like AOC.

It won’t play well in Peoria.

Get ahead by banning fossil fools, like McConnell, Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein, Schumer, Leahy, etc.

Manchin changing his mind sort of maybe possibly...

Yikes.

So it would be like Charlie Brown getting the football yanked away again. As usual.

Followed by “Trump may end up in prison with new indictment for contempt on the court docket.” replacing the doomed spending spree bill in the news.

I saw the same article about the miner’s union and I frankly don’t believe. If coal miners support the Biden agenda they would be signing their own death warrant.

I can see union leadership supporting Biden — those folks can be bribed. But the rank and file? Biden wants to kill their industry. No jobs for you. Or your kids. Why would the membership support that? Manchin ought to think about how the membership votes in the privacy of the polling booth.

Coal miners don’t support ANYTHING having to do with the Democrat/Nazi party. During his first term, pResident Bonzo the Wonder Chimp declared “war on coal” and the 2012 election results — and every election result since that time — have been heavily anti-Democrat in the (former) mining areas such as eastern Kentucky, southwestern Virginia and the entire state of West Virginia. Not many electoral votes there, so they could be written off. Those areas used to be the whitest heavily-Democrat regions in the U.S., now they are true blue (proper color usage).

The miners want nothing to do with the Democrats, but that doesn’t mean their corrupt union leadership feels the same way.

I think Manchin knows his constituents a lot better than Schmucker or the media.

During the Q&A after Biden's "COVIDpocalypse" speech, someone asked about Manchin, and he replied "Senator Manchin and I are going to get something done."
