In a year-end heist, thieves got their hands on $1 million worth of silver bullion, which disappeared from a truck traveling between Sydney and Melbourne in Australia.
Police are appealing to the public for help, releasing the images of the silver bars.
“Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives are appealing for information after silver bullion valued at $1 million was stolen from a truck traveling between Sydney and Melbourne,” the New South Wales Police Force said in a press release.
The missing silver was reported when the truck arrived in Melbourne on November 29 after leaving New South Wales on November 26. The heist happened while the truck was in transit.
A total of 192 individual 5 kg silver bars were stolen. They were being transported by a Kenworth truck and silver Krueger trailer.
The bullion is worth AUD $1,015,000, which is more than USD $720,000.

Golly. I hope the thieves don't figure out some exotic way to reshape the bars into something of a different size or shape.
Anyone know where Dominic Toretto is?
How would one go about cashing in on the stolen silver?
“Was the driver arrested for violating lockdown? “
What about the robbers? The way things are going, they may be punished more for violating lockdown than for the robbery.
The govt doesn’t like competition
A million? That ain’t much in Aussie dollars in this day and age. It’s 71 cents on the USD. It’s not chicken feed but hardly that much of a fortune any more. Govt’s all over the world continually debase their own currency.
I still remember when 6,000 USD a year was a really good income. Could buy a house.
Be on the lookout for Michael Caine and a fleet of Mini-Coopers.
A refinery could use nonradioactive isotope tracers to help identify their bullion for just this situation.
Looks like another severe boating accident is about to happen.

Betcha it was the Night Rider.
This has got to be an inside job. There’s no way the driver didn’t notice anything. Even if thieves stole the bars while he was parked at a rest stop, and didn’t leave a mark on the truck, it would feel different to the driver.
Thats a good question... they’ll need a good fence, perhaps try lowes or home depot? 😁
LOL. Obviously an inside job - who knew of the shipment? "Appealing to the public" is basically just putting a bounty on many heads.
That would be something like 1800lbs of silver bullion.
Hard to move that quickly...
A single monster box of silver eagles weighs 31.25lb and it’s hard to move...this would be 58 boxes worth...whew
“...the truck arrived in Melbourne on November 29 after leaving New South Wales on November 26.”
If they perps are caught they’ll have additional charges for breaking lockdown rules. Did they wear masks? Were they triple vaxxed? Where they gonna go? They’re on an island. Can’t swim with all that silver in your back pack.
Of the utmost, ultimate importance —— was this driver vaccinated?
That would be back when I was a kid and my silver half-dollar allowance could get me 10, count 'em 10 full-size Hershey bars.
