LA ‘restorative justice’ programs set to give violent juvenile felons a pass

Kiddie criminals in Los Angeles accused of serious crimes are set to get a pass under new rules from District Attorney George Gascon.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney will expand its “restorative justice” diversion programs for youths to include those facing charges like burglary, arson, robber and even sexual battery, among other crimes, according to a leaked memo from the DA’s office.

Diversion programs are a form of pre-trial intervention which allows alleged juveniles to avoid prosecution, conviction — and serious jail time — in favor of more rehabilitative approaches.

The DA’s office launched a pilot for the Restorative Enhanced Diversion for Youth (REDY) program in Nov 2021.

The memo was first reported by Fox News.

“According to this policy, prosecutors in the LA DA office tell me if a juvenile were to follow you home, pull a knife on you, threaten to kill you, then use force to rob you, and they are later arrested, they would be eligible for diversion rather than prosecution.” Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin said in a tweet explaining the implications of the new memo"

I imagine that eligibility for the program is contingent upon having the proper skin tone.

A few days ago I had to go to CA for biz...I was there one day...The GD traffic and lowlife there was biblical.

It was as if a nuke was going to be dropped on S. CA and tens of millions were trying to flee, but instead were just stuck in never ending epic traffic jams with homeless everywhere, people arguing with telephone poles, and half the population looking like convicted felons.

Maybe someone out there can explain to me how these braindead, evil, criminal-enabling libtards can not be criminally charged for allowing these violent scum back on the street to endanger and kill others? Did these vile scum not take oaths to upload the law?

Describe it any way you like, it won’t change the fact that
this will allow certain members of our populace to be able
to commit serious crimes without the fear of an appropriate
penalty.

The more horrible things California governments do, the better it is. The public will reach a tipping point. The sooner the better.

“I imagine that eligibility for the program is contingent upon having the proper skin tone.”

No doubt about that. Black on White and Black on Asian crime qualifies you for the program.

They shouldn’t be al.lwed to do this period, however, since they are going to,anyways, they should die held directly responsible for anything bad that happens once the perp thugs are released

Gangs already use underaged youths to commit crimes so that if the perps are caught they get out of jail free.

Before this was just for simple things like selling drugs, etc.

Now they can get the yutes to commit murder and everyone skates.

It had better be sooner. The illegals will be voting for their hand outs soon. When the majority of the voters vote for 50.1% of the treasury, it will be too late.

“Restorative justice” used to mean compensating the victims of crimes, i.e. restoring them, rather than merely punishing the perpetrators. It didn’t used to mean simple leniency, which it appears to have been redefined to, as with so many other recent redefinitions put forward by leftists. Up to and including redefinitions of words in published dictionaries the day the words were used by conservatives, in a way to undercut their points to the advantage of the left.

LA is a master of disaster now they are going to get rid of giving kids a D or F grade that way they can ensure they become criminals or peach pickers.
