Is it really the press secretary’s job to be engaging in these sort of political attacks? I seem to remember previous PS’s limiting themselves to talk about what the president was doing leave the vitriol spreading to others.
I love it. They must make clear their displeasure (and include the “fully paid for” lie) but at the same time can’t torch him because they want to try again next year. These, I suppose, are the travails one has when one tries to radically remake society with only the slimmest of majorities in one house of Congress and no majority at all in the other.
Probably fighting in public with your own most pivotal senator from a state with a gazillion conservative Republicans, is not the best place for the White House to find itself.
