The tests can’t distinguish between coronavirus and the flu.
My husband got sick from work, everyone got it and shop was shut down for a week. He tested negative for covid, while all his coworkers tested positive (not that that means anything). He also tested negative for flu. They diagnosed him with covid. Didn’t give him any therapeutics. Thankfully we already had azith and hcq on hand. He recovered. He was the only one from his work that didn’t end up in the hospital.
Since the flu essentially disappeared during covid, and they diagnose any upper respiratory issues as covid (regardless of test outcome), it’s not unlikely that the statement “covid is the flu” is accurate.
Yes, coronaviruses and influenza viruses are different. But they’re diagnosing flu as corona.
Some of us have been saying this for almost two years.

You’re right, it is more like the common cold. The common cold takes a coronavirus form too. We destroyed the global economy and gave up liberty over the common cold.
All I now is that I haven’t heard of any family, friends, colleagues, or people that they know getting the flu in the past two years.
