New Jersey on Thursday reported another 16 confirmed COVID-19 deaths and 6,271 confirmed cases — the state’s highest one-day total for confirmed positive tests since Jan. 13, the peak day from last winter’s pandemic surge.

The state has had just five days this year with more than 6,000 cases, including the 6,922 reported on Jan. 13. New Jersey had two days in December 2020 with more than 6,000 cases — 6,046 on Dec. 6, 2020 and 6,247 six days later.

The state’s seven-day average for new positive tests jumped Thursday to 4,124, up 21% from a week ago and 191% from a month ago as the region deals with another winter spike, despite the presence of vaccines. That’s the first time the average has been above 4,000 since April 1.

I looked at our local numbers, only 7 people in hospital and nobody at all in the ICU. So it seems even if there is a bumping up going on with new cases, it is not translating into a hospitalization issue or crisis.

The thing is, Murphy received a scare in the last election and is afraid to order lockdowns and mask mandates.

It will be a crisis when every knucklehead with a runny nose goes to the emergency room.

That is because Omicron is the exit variant. It’s now mutated to a weakened state that will infect many, kill few, have minor symptoms and give us all herd immunity.

i always got oa kick out of the one who used to come on here and brag about how he and his cronies snitched to the cops about people not complying...take all kinds, apparently...

that being said, there are a number of topics that I like to go against the prevailing opinion, so I can’t complain too much about others...

NYS counts asymptomatics, probables, and repeat positives of the same patient as new cases.

Does NJ...?

“… if people who are not visibly sick would stop getting tested, this shit would be a blip on the radar……”
*******************************************************************
Most definitely true. For example, lots of colleges have mandatory “surveillance” testing of students/faculty. A lots of these tests are coming back positive with the positive person not be the least bit sick. For example, Cornell is having many “non-ill positives” currently so they are now closing in-person classes. Absolutely ridiculous!

"The state’s seven-day average for new positive tests [emphasis added] ..."
Thank you for referencing that article Tipllub. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

It seems that there's never enough information in these CV19-related articles to get a grip on what's actually happening.

For example, if NJ's tests are mandatory tests for otherwise asymptomatic people who haven't been vaccinated, then it can be argued that positive tests are nothing more than evidence that healthy natural immunity is at work.

Emphasizing that I am not medically trained, Professor Professor Sucharit Bhakdi had indicated in July 2021 that globe(?) had achieved 99% natural immunity.

An unanswered question is, would medical history would have turned out better if vitamin D3 had been discovered before vaccines were?

Corrections, insights welcome.

“New Jersey on Thursday reported another 16 confirmed COVID-19 deaths and 6,271 confirmed cases...”

Confirmed by what?

The PCR test that was never to be used to diagnose infectious virus?

The PCR test that is 90+% false positive when run above 10-13 cycles and they are running it at 38 to 40?

The PCR test that over a month ago the CDC directed testing facilities to stop using because it was unable to detect the difference between flu or covid?

Or have they come up with some other sham-wow BS test?
