Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will join Labor Secretary Martin J. Walsh and National Economic Council Director Brian Deese in unveiling details behind the Biden-Harris Trucking Action Plan during a White House roundtable with trucking-industry leaders.
The trucker shortage, which the industry has warned of since at least the 1980s, has reached critical mass, as COVID-19 shutdowns have triggered widespread layoffs while temporarily closing the state DMVs and driver-training schools that serve as the industry’s pipeline.
A senior administration official said the problems that the plan aims to address are longstanding and not merely a result of industry shake-up from the pandemic.
“But in this worker-centered recovery, these new investments and infrastructure, and this new focus by this administration, gives us the opportunity to work together across industry, government and labor to take these challenges on,” the official said.
The plan aims to put more drivers behind the wheel by stepping up initiatives to recruit more military veterans into the industry, and by launching an apprenticeship accelerator aimed at helping employers start or grow their apprenticeship programs.

If they are going to use illegals, who are not required to get the jab, why would they be required to have training, an ordinary drivers license, or (shudder) even a CDL?
I mean let’s not impose of these poor downtrodden folks who fled there own countries to seek American benefits? Where’s their benefit, if the government lays all these special circumstances on them?

Yep, illegals kill more people by drunk driving than by any other method. I don’t know why. I live in an area in New York with a high illegal population, and all of the ones I know told me they were busted for DWI, one who did 3 years in prison where he told me they fed him “comida de gato”, Cat food. And of course none have been deported.
ON any given day, 40% + of CDL licensed drivers cannot be at the wheel.
Cannot pass the drug tests.
Keep “legalizing” drugs & this is the result.

As a passenger yesterday in trip on i-10 in Arizona, a familiar trip to me, trucks are moving 2 abreast, in long lines going east and west. Big names. Big and small trucks.
The railroad traffic more than usual. Three containers high, double length.
The story does not seem to match the reality.

The funny thing is that from each according to ability is basically free market , the thing breaks down from there when there is not conditionals on “to each according to his needs”
Basically meaning you can STEAL from the those with ability to give to those who refuse to work but still have “needs”.

Imagine the roads filled with semi trucks driven by demonrat indoctrinated 18 to 21 year-olds just learning how to drive.
