A federal judge on Tuesday threw out a lawsuit filed by former President Donald Trump, who was trying to block the release of his taxes to Congress. In his ruling, Judge Trevor McFadden deferred to the need for Congress to carry out "facially valid inquiries."
"A long line of Supreme Court cases requires great deference to facially valid congressional inquiries," wrote McFadden. "Even the special solicitude accorded former Presidents does not alter the outcome. The Court will therefore dismiss this case."
The lawsuit brought by the former president stems from a 2019 request issued by the House Ways and Means Committee and its chairman, Democratic Congressman Richard Neal , to the Treasury Department for multiple years' worth of tax returns belonging to Trump and some of his businesses. The request was made under a law allowing Congress to request the tax papers of certain individuals from the IRS.

I was going to go to bed but had just enough time for
more
bad
news.
Enough already, judges.
McFadden is another swamp creature, obviously
A McConnell judge is a 50-50 tossup.
When do we see ‘the Big Guy’ and his ‘made from the same stamp’, little guy’s taxes?
He was nominated for the court by Trump
Just plain wrong....”secure in your papers”.....
Trump appointee.
The Govt. already has his tax records. He filed them with the freaking GOVT.
If they cant get the records from their own dam offices, then they sue for what?
Another copy?
This country is so screwed up.
What is the legislative purpose of Trump’s tax returns?
Legislation is Congress’s only power.
Investigative power belongs with the justice department.
At least we know he’ll be cool if a Republican house asks for his tax returns.
He’s a federalist society / McConnell judge. That’s how Trump picked his judges. He probably could’ve done worse on his own. This will likely be appealed. Puzzling why congress would need to look at any individual taxpayer’s taxes
You’re right.
it’d be one thing if they simply sicced the IRS on him, AGAIN, to do ANOTHER colonoscopy, but THEY have absolutely NO RIGHT to look at them...
It doesn’t quite work like that...
McFadden stayed his ruling for 14 days to allow the former president time to appeal this ruling.
Appointed by: Donald Trump too.
HE shouldn’t have to sue. There is no right of Congress to access personal tax records of citizens.
ya think?
A reminder....Hillary submitted “corrected” tax records for 5 years...at one point...
