An Idaho church has replaced a stained glass window of Robert E Lee, George Washington and Abe Lincoln with the country's first black Methodist bishop wearing an LGBTQ scarf.
The late bishop Leontine Kelly, who passed away at age 92 in 2012, had lived in Richmond, Virginia with her family where monuments of former Confederate leaders, such as Lee, had lined Monument Avenue.
The statue of Lee, a former Civil War general and slave owner, was later removed by the city on September 8.
The call to remove the statue had been recommended by Governor Ralph Northam in June 2020 as Lee was believed to have represented a time of racial injustice.
The stained glass window at the Cathedral of the Rockies First Methodist Church in Boise, Idaho, which featured Lee was taken down in August 2020.
The window, erected in 1960, featured Lee standing with Washington and Lincoln who were 'selected to show historic and contemporary leaders of our nation,' according to the Idaho Statesman.
Kelly now stands in place of these three men, while donning an LGBTQ scarf, and standing proud with her hands folded.
She had been elected as the first black Methodist bishop in a 1984 ceremony.
The portrayal of the former bishop was inspired by a photo taken of Kelly where she calmly stood in the midst of a 1985 protest against nuclear armaments.

Be the change you wanna see, sir!
GMTA - your post exactly captured my very first thought on reading the headline.
Methodists again.
It’s why I only believe in a God, not religion...........
Methodist a d Presbyterian leaders don’t care that their congregations are shrinking. It just means they have justification to liquidate assets and make the current leadership richer.
You have to understand, every few churches are run by godly people any more. Why? Few want the thankless work of making a church a success. But an atheist will gladly feign religion and manage a church into nothing as long as it profits himself.
If I lived in the area, a rock propelled by a slingshot would now have a permanent target.
Methodism is so far off the rails that neither of the Wesley brothers would recognize it today. I am not a Methodist but hold great admiration for John and Charles Wesley. Their legacy of zeal and love and faith has touched all Christians in one way or another, and touched them for the best. Too bad so many Methodists don't recognize them today.
Good question. Could have sparked a discussion. Now it’s lost to history and nobody will ever know it was there to begin with.
go woke, go broke!
Hmmm. You don’t suppose, do you, that they welcome everyone so they can convert them to true Christianity, do you? I might be optimistic about that except for the stained glass what’s it.
AVOID THIS CHURCH !!!
Well that tears it - I’m gonna join their church just so I can reject their madness and quit!
Not who you see in leadership positions.
Nope.
They infiltrate. And destroy. It’s what the left does.
Me, ‘piscopalians. Done.
Not knowing where you are located, I dont know if thats an affirmation or a rebuttal. I grew up methodist, but have been non-denominational Bible based Christian for about 25 years now. I could not find a methodist church in my area over that time where more than a few pews out of buildings made to accommodate several hundred people were filled. Most participants were older with little participation from young people. Methodists have accepted woman pastors and have stopped discerning many behaviors that the Bible tells us we should be discerning about, LGBT lifestyles among them. We are not called to judge, but we are called to discern Godly behavior from non-Godly behavior. The non-denominational Bible based churches I have been part of for 25 years have full houses on Sundays.
Every church that accepts women pastors ends up going full blown pro-gay woke. It is what it is. Paul knew what he was warning us about.
“About 30-50 attend my Methodist Church each Sunday.”
My wife attends an Episcopal church in Minneapolis - right in the heart of a very liberal area. I sometimes go with her though I am Catholic.
They’re running about the same for their 10:30AM Sunday Mass.
“If that’s what the members of that church want, so be it. However, if I were a member, I’d be an ex-member.”
The same logic works, when one has school age children, who are being abused by the Woke A$$holes.
I’m not an anarchist, but I hope a few well-aimed rocks go through that window.
