DESANTIS STRIKES BACK
Powerline ^ | DECEMBER 11, 2021 | JOHN HINDERAKER

It seems that my friend may have been emailing Ron DeSantis: DeSantis Proposes $8 Million in Budget to Relocate Illegal Immigrants to Delaware, Martha’s Vineyard.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis set $8 million in his 2022–23 budget to transport illegal immigrants out of The Sunshine State.

He proposed the spending in the Freedom First Budget to protect against harms resulting from illegal immigration. The spending may include the transportation of unauthorized aliens located within Florida to other states or the District of Columbia.

“In yesterday’s budget, I put in $8 million for us to be able to transport people illegally [in the United States] out of the state of Florida,” he said during a press conference on Friday.

The Republican governor listed Delaware, President Joe Biden’s home state, and Martha’s Vineyard, where former President Barack Obama owns a mansion, as potential destinations to relocate the illegal immigrants.

“If you sent [illegal immigrants] to Delaware or Martha’s Vineyard or some of these places, that border would be secure the next day,” he said.

The White House and The Obama Foundation didn’t respond immediately to requests for comments from The Epoch Times.

I’ll bet they didn’t! After all, what can they say? Having sent illegals to Florida in the first place, how can they object to their being redirected to their own locales? And after all, what’s the problem? These folks are all just “undocumented,” right? So why wouldn’t you want thousands of them on Martha’s Vineyard?

I hope DeSantis follows through. It would be entertaining to see Delaware and Massachusetts authorities trying to stop busloads of illegals whom Obama, Biden et al. have deliberately let into the country in hopes of furthering the Democratic Party’s interests. They just didn’t intend for the illegals to wind up anywhere near them.

$8M is not going to go far, maybe 15,000 illegals or so. A drop in the bucket compared to the millions biden is shipping to Florida.

I would give to that on 2 condition. 1. They cannot vote or acquire citizenship ahead of a single person for 20 years. 2. They and their immediate family as defined by anyone able to receive healthcare benefits or subsidies as a family, must remain for 20 years in their current senate voting district.

Florida doesn’t have the same ability to spend the other 49 states’ tax dollars nor print money that D.C. does.

The good thing is that in Florida we can directly propose state constitutional amendments. Sounds like a good initiative for 2024 to prevent the state court or a weasel legislature ( oxymoron alert). We wouldn’t have enough time to get the signatures and the wording cleared through the review process before the 2022 election, but we can back the idea with some legal clout. Just a requirement that illegal immigrants be sent to Washington DC for processing and disposition by Federal authorities when encountered by state and local authorities such as law enforcement, restaurant health inspectors, school administrators etc.. would work. or just send them to DC with a train or bus ticket to a choice liberal final destination. Might as well use some of that budget surplus for a good cause. Florida has a constitutionally mandated balanced budget, and because it’s based on previous years taxes, there usually a surplus which has gone to education and law enforcement historically.

“$8M is not going to go far, maybe 15,000 illegals or so.”

More like 8,000 @ $1,000; but that should get the job done.

Send 100 killers to Delaware and that governor will be yelling get the calf rope.

Just my 2 cents ... I don't see that as a problem. The optics of their doing so would damage their credibility and invalidate the narrative that they're keeping the borders wide open out of compassion. They'd be unmasked as the phonies that they are. I think they might win that battle in the way that you predict but eventually lose the war over illegals.
