“The truth is I'm not a liberal or a conservative. I'm an institutionalist.” The truth is you’re a pathological liar and a phony. Just go away.

He comes across unsure about what he’s worried about or why.

You know when he says he’s not a liberal I believe him, because in his mind liberal doesn’t go far enough.

Is he saying that he is leaving the news business in worst shape than he found it?

Folks on this thread have covered pretty well Williams being a liar, a doofus and a mouthpiece for Big Government propaganda.
I'm going to post something a little bit different.
From a December 26, 2004 interview:
WILLIAMS: I do listen to Rush. I listen to it from a radio in my office, or depending on my day, if I'm in the car, I will listen to Rush. And he will tell you I've been listening for years. I think it's my duty to listen to Rush. I think Rush has actually yet to get the credit he is due, because his audience for so many years felt they were in the wilderness of this country. No one was talking to them. [...] Rush said to millions of Americans, you have a home. Come with me. For three hours a day you can listen and hear the like-minded calling in from across the country, and I'll read to you things perhaps you didn't see that are out there. I think Rush gave birth to the FOX News Channel. I think Rush helped to give birth to a movement. I think he played his part in the Contract with America. So I hope he gets his due as a broadcaster.
Perhaps a clue about Wialliams' closing remarks.

No net? He’s got millions of dollars to sustain him (and his family) after his long career. What a self-serving POS.

If he wasn’t fully on board with the liberal agenda all of his friends and associates would have abandoned him long ago. This guy is totally full of it.

They seem to be working themselves out of a job.
Once you go full police state you don’t really need propaganda anymore.

No Mr. Williams you are not. Liberals of old were people of loyal opposition. You are a progressive and guilty of a wasted life. Retire with your millions and as you expire know you did nothing but voice things that restrict human freedom in favor of government control.

When were liberals really “loyal opposition” and not Fabianists working to “transform existing society gradually” as Engels put it in 1847? or not the type that believe(d) democracy to be “one and the same” with socialism as Woodrow Wilson did?
