ALBERT LEA, Minnesota – The owner of the Interchange Wine and Coffee Bistro began her 90-day jail sentence Thursday after a jury found her guilty of violating COVID-19 emergency orders from Democrat Gov. Timothy J. “Tim” Walz at her Freeborn County District Court trial.

There is nothing about “essential” or “non-essential” businesses in Law.

A governor's edict to close personally selected businesses is not legal.

The prosecution only asked the judge to sentence her to 10 days in jail and a $500 fine. The Judge said he wanted to make an example of her for ignoring the law.
Ms Hanson, the business owner, probably made a mistake representing herself. When it comes to anything COVID related, many judges are legislating from the bench, exceeding their authority. For the most part, these judges get away with it.
