‘If I run, he won’t’: Donald Trump downplays Ron DeSantis’ 2024 prospects
Florida Politics ^ | December 7, 2021 | A.G. Gancarski

'If he wanted to run, that's OK with me. I think we'd win by a lot.' Former President Donald Trump continues to say Gov. Ron DeSantis won’t run against him in 2024 and can’t beat him if he does, while reminding voters DeSantis wouldn’t be Governor without Trump’s endorsement.

During an interview with South Florida radio host Brian Mudd, Trump offered his latest in a series of statements essentially claiming he made the Governor and DeSantis knows better than to run against him in 2024.

“I do think if I run, he won’t,” Trump said. “I know they try and create a friction. I don’t think it exists at all. It might, you know, you never know. If he wanted to run, that’s OK with me. I think we’d win by a lot. But he’s good. And he’s done a good job as Governor.”

Trump also offered a new detail on his 2018 DeSantis endorsement, with Trump finding new ways to explicitly take credit for DeSantis’ victory.

“When Ron came to me, he was at 3%. And he had no money. And he asked for an endorsement. And I actually, you know, wasn’t too thrilled because … you know, he was very good, he helped me with the (Bob) Mueller hoax, because we had many hoaxes, and he was on television a lot,” Trump said. “But people didn’t relate him doing that as Governor. So when he announced for Governor, people didn’t really know who he was.”

“So when Ron asked me for help, for an endorsement.” Trump added, “He was at 3(%), and 3(%) means you don’t have a chance. He went up like a rocket ship.”

Trump noted DeSantis’ chief primary opponent, Adam Putnam, told him the endorsement was “like a nuclear weapon went off.”

The Dems already announced that they do not plan to spend any time or money fighting DeSantis’ re-election campaign in Florida next year, as it would be futile.

Even they see it.

Trump lost me with the incessant fundraising and his complete idiocy about the jabs. Fighting the vax mandates is a battle of freedom vs tyranny, and Trump is on the wrong side. BIGLY.

As a lame duck president on day 1 if he were to win in 2024, along with the hyenas going full on TDS 24x7, his crappy personnel choices, etc, I’m just not interested in watching that circus again.

He’s also a career politician who has never worked a real job, an Ivy League lawyer, and a “decorated” military veteran whose medals were earned while he was a JAG officer.

I have no idea what he’d bring to the White House. I’ll support him if he runs and gets the GOP nomination, but I have a deep-seated distrust of people like this who spend their lives getting groomed for public office.

I will always prefer a guy like Trump who doesn’t need the job and who stands as a total repudiation of the entire political system in Washington.

Can’t happen. They’re both from the same state. Trump would have to move to NJ, or NYC.

I want to see them both as president. This is Trump's last chance. DeSantis has plenty of time. My dream would be them both on the same ticket in 2024.

If COVID is your major issue then DeSantis isn’t your man. Everything he's done regarding these stupid vaccine mandates has effectively obscured his initial response to COVID back in the spring of 2020 … when he was willing to shut down thousands of private businesses just like the nitwit Democrats in places like New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

I’m not Kristi Noem’s biggest fan, but there’s no getting around the fact that South Dakota was the only state in the U.S. whose governor refused to drink the COVID Kool-Aid back in 2020.

a “decorated” military veteran whose medals were earned while he was a JAG officer.

In Fallujah, Iraq working with SEALs and Green Berets during the deadliest year of the war.

Please don't dismiss his military service. He's not Hunter Biden snorting coke at a stateside desk job after his father bought him a Navy commission. DeSantis was in the sh*t.

I will likely vote for Trump if run.
My biggest issue with him is his vaccine stance. And at least not coming out and saying something about giving it to teens and younger.
And practically forcing people to take the shot.
Otherwise, I have they same concerns I’ve always had and that is the people surrounds himself with. Some real duds and bozos.
And I must admit his age does worry me a little.

That’s not a big deal. Trump’s Bedminster property is already in hand.

It’s not a lack of humility when it’s 100% true.

DeSantis... and for that matter no Republican... has the brand that Trump has. No one would have a chance against him in a GOP primary.

Absolutely, DeSantis has more leverage right here in Fla, showing clear contrast to the plan scammers. I used to roll eyes sometimes when Trump spoke. Now I turn my eyes upward, praying “please God” he cant come back soon enough. WHEN he returns house will be cleaned like never before in history, then terrific Gov Desantis.
