This also isn't the first time Apple has been accused of getting all cozy with the Chicoms.

Why Is Apple Lowering Its Walled Garden for China but Not for the US?

It would appear as if a pattern is developing.

Because “security” is bad - who needs double-security (aka - two-factor authentication that every serious financial institution is now or has already implemented)... right?

I laugh every time I see the complains of Apple being liberal (despite them holding out when literally every other tech company gave in to giving the feds and other law enforcement unlimited access to users). I especially laugh at those who think the “less liberal” options are Bill Gates and Google.... It demonstrates an utter lack of knowledge and understanding about the entire tech world.

But to each their own.

dude....

Don’t you know that the haters will always hate, and that facts don’t matter. It’s as if some people’s hate is so bad that it drives them to use the same standards of proof and evidence that Democrats/Marxists use... you know, the same propaganda swallowers who deride the “Left” for such behavior.

But somehow - Apple is a favored whipping boy. I sure wouldn’t want any of the folks in here on a jury I’m facing. They don’t care about the truth...

“Conservative” is now a very broad and over-used term.

Apple was dam glad to repatriate and pay up......since they escaped scrutiny for the dirty work already done.

What part of "those off shore funds were already taxed in the US IRS Income Tax system" or the fact that "Apple is a publicly traded corporation annually audited with books open to the SEC” did you fail to grasp?

And your guilty conscience over the left wing donations is noted by your silence.

Microsoft’s corporate political donations were over 95% left wing and Democrat Party. Your point is meaningless. Apple’s statistics are based on the donations of its Apple Employees Political Action Committee, an independent organization which uses voluntary wage deductions from Apple employees for its contributions. Apple DOES match those contributions on a one-to-one basis, as it does for all non-profit paycheck deductions. However, for such political oriented company matching, they are not tax costs or non-taxable deductions. An analysis of all Silicon Valley tech companies found that ALL of them showed support for left-wing and progressive political parties and causes above 85%. You cannot buy or build a computer or a phone without the taint of the left. It’s not possible.

Why Is Apple Lowering Its Walled Garden for China but Not for the US?

That article had zero current evidence from June 2021 justifying its timeliness; the most current was from 2016 rehashing the NEW 2014 Chinese Federal Law requiring Chinese citizens’ data be stored on servers within the national borders of China.

Apple retained the encryption keys to those Chinese Apple users’ data and was only required to decrypt individual user’s accounts when a qualified court issued a valid search warrant for those data under Chinese Law… exactly the same as Apple releases iCloud user data in the USA and every other country for Apple users’ data of which they have fiduciary custody.

That article was filled with other erroneous and actual false claims, such as the claim that Apple refused to provide access to the San Bernardino Terrorist’s iphone. Nothing could be further from the truth. Apple volunteered their assistance in opening that iPhone 5s early on and was rebuffed by local and FBI officials who then succeeded in completely locking the device beyond even Apple’s ability to unlock it by remotely changing the user’s AppleID and password, something Apple had told them NOT to do. Apple had already provided everything to the authorities in the terrorist’s iCloud account backup of the iPhone due to a valid search warrant for those data, but its latest backup had only been done three months prior to the terror attack. Apple could not be compelled to provide anything on the iPhone, because Apple did NOT possess or hold those data at any time. The legal owner of that iPhone 5s was the San Bernardino County Department of Health, the agency which issued it to the terrorist.

I’d say the sword I made in this thread cut through all the false FUD in the article and the negative commentary. Facts trump ignorant opinion every time.

As proof of my assertion about your Apple political donations, I present the footnote from the bottom of your linked page with the pertinent point highlighted:

"METHODOLOGY: The numbers on this page are based on contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more. All donations were made during the 2020 election cycle and were released by the Federal Election Commission. Figures for the current election cycle are based on data released on March 22, 2021.

With the approximately 154,000 US employees that Apple has, the $8.7 million total 2 year election cycle nation-wide expenditures of the Apple Employee PAC money (half from Apple matching funds) represents approximately ~$37.50 per two year election cycle per employee of payroll deduction (matched by Apple’s ~$37.50)…

WOW! Serious money to get your panties in a wad about… compared to the $112.5 billion net profit in that same election cycle. That matching fund isn’t enough to make a percentage blip on Apple’s spread sheet. It’s about 0.000000375% of the net profit.

Both of your major points are incorrect.

"Microsoft’s corporate political donations were over 95% left wing and Democrat Party. Your point is meaningless."

That's why I try to offer my personal help to people looking to get off of big tech such as Microsoft or Apple and switch to Linux. My point isn't meaningless. Microsoft is just as big of a threat to conservatism as Apple or Google or any of the rest of them. But you're not defending Microsoft here.

"You cannot buy or build a computer or a phone without the taint of the left. It’s not possible."

This is essentially the soft bigotry of low expectations coupled with the "everybody's doing it" fallacy when actually, not really. In the computing world not everything is so tightly coupled as Apple would like.

You are probably correct in assuming that Intel or Nvidia for example are hard core kookvilles, but the reality is that it isn't the hardware makers that are a threat to conservatism. It isn't Gigabyte who is spying on us en-masse and compiling dossiers to dox us with. It isn't Realtek who is deplatforming or demonetizing conservatives. It's all the software world, those are the guys who are hunting us down like dogs and practicing digital ghettoization with their deplatforming of things like Parler or shadowbans.

It's the Google's of the world, the Apple's, the Microsoft's, and the Facebook's. The fact is, Swordmaker, you don't have to financially support these dirtbags. You have chosen to do that willingly. In a sane world there wouldn't be a conservative out there who had one single Microsoft or Google or Apple product in their homes or hand, it would all be Linux phones or desktops. We as conservatives did not make them political, they did that all on their own with their political contributions or with telling us as global warming deniers we should dump their stock because they don't want our business.

"I’d say the sword I made in this thread cut through all the false FUD in the article and the negative commentary. Facts trump ignorant opinion every time."

As a conservative, your love of Apple and of conservatism are in conflict. Big tech is the enemy, particularly on the software side. Maybe one day you'll choose conservatism first, but for now, you've let Apple win. You've put yourself into pretzel shape formations to defend a hard-core left wing company. It should've left you feeling really dirty. Sadly, it didn't.

You've chosen Apple against conservatism. That's the fact.

Fair enough. Your arguments seem reasonable to me.

There’s a problem here though. The trend keeps happening that Apple must be defended and it’s always left wing junk.

Why don’t they ever make a mistake in our favor every once in a while? Let’s see them de-platform ABC News or CNN as fake news. You think Apple would ever do that one?

"If anyone knows of a computer made in the USA"

I wanted to amend a prior comment misspoken, learned something today.

System76 is based in the USA. They are not a big company so it is very unlikely they make unsavory political contributions since they don't have that kind of largesse to throw it around. They even chose the number 76 because of the year 1776. Pretty cool.

This would allow you to completely get rid of big tech once and for all. https://system76.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System76

Little tech is the solution to our big tech problem.
