Rep. Devin Nunes to retire at month’s end, will head Trump social media venture

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), a key ally of former President Donald Trump, will not run for re-election in 2022, a source with knowledge of his plans confirmed to The Post on Monday.

The source added that Nunes — who was seen as the frontrunner to become chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee if the GOP regained the majority after next year’s midterm elections — is expected to be named CEO of the former president’s new social media platform.

Nunes, currently the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, was one of Trump’s most vocal defenders in Congress during the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government officials.

Wrong. Nunes would count towards the total number of Republicans. Now, it’s an open seat that the GOP has to defend or have a net loss to the Dems. so his seat does count. just like all 435 seats in the House.

So an open seat that had a GOP incumbent makes that one of the hills to climb to get back the majority.

What part of Nunes has been redistricted out in CA do you not understand. They changed the map and he is now living out of the newly drawn district and they added a bunch of minority areas to the district so that now it will be a Dem/Biden favoring district as versus a Trump/conservative district like it used to be. Nunes is out.

I am in CA. and totally agree, the state has gone way past the point of no return WAY PAST IT!! I WAS living on the beach, the beach areas have become HORRIBLE homeless encampments EVERYWHERE they just kept building and building the traffic became unbearable, I felt trapped, HATED it there but had to stay because I was caring for an elderly parent!! My mom recently passed and couldn’t move away from there fast enough, I moved just south of Palm Springs and it is a whole different world in the desert!! I feel like I moved to a completely different state, wonder how long it will last before it is ruined also!! I can actually go shopping without a mask SO HAPPY!! It is on land owned by the Indians so the city doesn’t follow the stinking federal and state mandates!! Absolutely beautiful city I couldn’t be happier!

Nunes is smart, talented and loyal. If he is making this decision it makes me optimistic about the outcomes and this effort is greatly needed. Plus, Nunes will probably have even more influence and will make $$$ w/o having to sell out to lobbyists or special interests.

Umm ... I totally understand the gerrymandered redistricting to expunge the seat. That wasn’t the issue I was addressing

I was just replying to refute the notion that all GOP congressional districts don’t count simply because they are in California or NYS.

Califo and NY State GOP seats DO count in terms of the total number of seats in the GOP caucus, and potentially in the total number of seats needed for the majority in the House.
