The Nevada Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that firearm manufacturers cannot be held liable for deaths from the One October mass shooting in 2017.
The court filed its ruling Thursday, writing that state law provides gunmakers with immunity in cases involving serious injury or death.
"We in no way underestimate the profound public policy issues presented or the horrific tragedy the Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting inflicted," the court wrote in an opinion authored by Justice Kristina Pickering. "But this is an area the Legislature has occupied extensively. If civil liability is to be imposed against firearm manufacturers and distributors in the position of the gun companies in this case, that decision is for the Legislature, not this court."

It’s stupid.
That anyone has to go to court over such foolishness that is.
Gun control groups get a lot of money from the dweebs by running these guaranteed to fail lawsuits. It’s all about the money. It’s also job security for lawyers. Gun Control is big business and full of rent seekers.

I gotta agree. The ruling was correct, but the reasoning was not. The court seems to be saying that manufacturers can be held liable if the legislature allows it.
That would be an obvious government overreach, kind of like holding Ford liable for a guy who drives drunk while in a Ford.
Oh, was there a mass shooting in Las Vegas? I had forgotten, nobody ever mentions it. Wasn’t there going to be a big investigation? Hmmm? Memory holed? I guess the investigating team is the same one that investigated the Notre Dame fire.
The “investigation” stopped immediately when it was discovered a second person was involved with the shooter, and it was obvious that person likely shot the shooter before fleeing.
There was something secretive and evil going on in Vegas that night. I don’t thing anyone (not part of the conspiracy….if there was one) really knows what happened.
It doesn’t smell right
It seems far more likely the investigation was stopped because the Casinos have deep pockets, lots of political power, and wanted to limit their losses.
That's what I was thinking. As soon as you start holding manufacturers liable for how customers use their products and services you end all commerce. All commerce.
Why make a firearm if someone uses it for a crime and I get held liable for their actions?
Why make a car if someone drives drunk, kills someone and I get held liable for their actions?
Why make running shoes if someone mugs someone, then outruns police wearing them and I get held liable for their actions?
Why run a fast food place if someone over-eats there, gets fat and dies and I get held liable for their actions?
Why make a computer, if someone uses it to commit bank fraud and I get held liable for their actions?
And on and on through countless examples - virtually all commerce comes to a screeching halt the moment you set that precedent.
For you lib lurkers out there thinking "That's silly, why would we hold Door-Dash liable for the death of someone who choked on the food they delivered?" Exactly. It is silly. Why would you try to hold a firearm manufacturer liable either? There is no difference, logically, rationally between any of these examples. Just because you don't like a product or service is no justification for singling it out. Oh wait, I'm sorry, I forgot. That is one of the pillars of leftist behavior. If a freedom loving conservative doesn't like something, they just won't use it. If a lefty "liberal" doesn't like something or is afraid of something, they don't want anyone to have it.
“Gun control” functions as a fundraising mechanism. Wallets come out on both sides fast when someone starts agitating for/against it. There’s a lot of profit in not solving the issue from any perspective.
It’s stupid.
___________
but they have the money and insurance, and the communist politicians and judges want to get rid of the gun manufactures
What the hell is 1 October?
Do they by chance mean October 1st?
I’m starting to see this bastardized vocabulary in these headlines. It’s pathetic.
The left is so desperate to put gun makers out of business.
Some common sense for a change.
Andrew McCabe was put in charge of the investigation.
Yes, the corrupt FBI SOB.
dems don’t want us to have cars and guns.
This electric car bs is all about restricting free movement as much as possible
In my opinion, the shootings in Las Vegas were “not as seen on TV”.
There were lots of rumors, but no proof, except utter silence from the FBI.
That silence speaks loudly.
1Oct21 is military date format.
OAN has since given an editorial detailing where the "investigation" stopped. The shooter had "committed suicide" by shooting himself with his non-firing hand through his upper and lower front teeth, up through his head, and a second door into that room wasn't locked.
